Gearraidhean ann an seirbhisean cion-dachaigh

[Angela NicIlleathain - Preseantair] Thèid gearraidhean luach dhà puing a sia millean not a dhìon ann an seirbhisean cion-dachaigh ann an Glaschu. Tha carthannasan leithid SAMH agus Simon Community a tha a’ toirt taic do dhaoine gun dachaigh am measg na tha a’ call ionmhais. Thuirt com-pàirteachas cùraim slàinte agus sòisealta Ghlaschu gun robh na seirbheisean gan ath-nuadhachadh gus a bhith freagarrach airson feumalachdan an latha an-diugh agus gun robh iad a’ gluasad gu modal Housing First. Le tuilleadh, seo Calum MacAmhlaigh.

[Calum MacAmhlaigh – Neach-naidheachd] Chaidh aontachadh an-diugh le co-bhòrd amalachas Baile Ghlaschu ath-leasachadh a thoirt air mar a tha a dhà puing a sia millean not gan cosg air seirbhisean cion-dachaigh anns a’ bhaile. Atharrachaidhean a thig gu buil san Dàmhair ach tha e ag adhbharachadh dragh.

[Graham Moireasdan - Seaplain] Tha e a’ dol a dh’adhbharachadh duilgheadas mhòr dhan roinn sòisealta agus tha e a’ dol a dh’adhbharachadh duilgheadasan dha luchd saor-thoileach. Tha mi a’ smaoineachadh gu bheil cus uallaich air a chur air luchd saor-thoileach airson a bhith cuideachadh feadhainn gun dachaighean. Ach gu sònraichte far a bheil sinne, tha e air a dhol an àirde glè mhòr am fàgail gun dhachaighean ann an seo.

[Calum MacAmhlaigh – Neach-naidheachd] Mar phàirt dhan ath-leasachadh, cuiridh iad às do bhuidhnean treas-pàrtaidh a tha a’ toirt cùram do dhaoine gun dachaigh. Tha aithrisean ann ag ainmeachadh nan carthannasan a tha a’ call airgid mar phàirt dhen atharrachadh, cuid dhiubh a tha a’ cuideachadh dhaoine le tinneasan-inntinn a tha cuideachd gun dachaigh. Dhiùlt a’ chomhairle dearbhadh cò na buidhnean a bha gus airgead a chall.

[Graham Moireasdan - Seaplain] Tha iad a’ faighinn cuideachadh agus taic bhon na feadhainn a tha ann an sin. Agus ged a tha obair saor-thoileach a’ toirt cuideachadh dhaibh, feumaidh iad àite far an tig iad, far am faigh iad tuigsinn bhon na feadhainn a tha mar sin airson an tinneas ac’ agus tha sin a’ dol a dh’adhbharachadh duilgheadasan mòr’.

[Calum MacAmhlaigh – Neach-naidheachd] Thuirt neach-labhairt bho cho-obrachadh slàinte is cùram shòisealta Baile Ghlaschu “Tha seirbheisean cion-dachaigh ann an Glaschu ag atharrachadh gu tur airson an toirt gu ìre far a bheil iad freagarrach airson an latha an-diugh … agus thathar a’ cur ionmhais mòr a dh’ionnsaigh modal Housing First – a tha a’ tabhann taigheadas agus cùram freagarrach do dhaoine aig a bheil feumalachdan sònraichte.”

[Calum MacAmhlaigh – Neach-naidheachd] Tha a’ bhuidheann cuideachd ag amas air daoine a ghluasad gu taighean cho luath ’s a ghabhas. Gluaisidh na daoine a tha a’ cleachdadh na seirbheisean mar-thà gu goireasan ùra. Bidh taic shònraichte ri fhaotainn bhon a roinnean chùraim. Tha atharrachaidhean mòra air faire do dhaoine gun dachaigh ann am Baile Glaschu. Ged a tha dòchas ann gun soirbhich leis na h-atharrachaidhean a tha seo, bidh draghan ann gus am faicear adhartas. Cuts to homeless services

[Angela MacLean - Presenter] Cuts worth £2.6 million pounds in savings will come to homeless services in Glasgow. Charities such as SAMH and Simon Community which give support to homeless people, are amongst those who are losing finance. The Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership said that the services were being renewed to be fit for today’s needs and they were moving to a Housing First model. With more, here’s Calum MacAulay.

[Calum MacAulay – Journalist] An agreement was reached today with a joint-board for Glasgow to reform how £2.6 million will be spent on homeless services in the town. Changes that will come into effect in October but are causing concern.

[Graham Morrison - Chaplain] It is going to cause great difficulty to the social sector and it’s going to cause problems to volunteers. I think there is too much pressure put on volunteers to help homeless people. But especially where we are, it has risen sharply leaving people without homes here.

[Calum MacAulay – Journalist] As part of the redevelopment, they’ll stop third party groups giving help to homeless people. There are reports naming the charities who are losing money as part of the change, many of whom help people with mental illnesses who are also homeless. The council refused to name who the groups are who will lose money.

[Graham Morrison - Chaplain] They are getting help and support from the ones there. And although the the voluntary work is helping them, they need a place where they can come where they’ll get understanding for their illness and that is going to cause big problems.

[Calum MacAulay – Journalist] A spokesperson from Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership said “Homeless services in Glasgow are completely changing to take them to a suitable level for today … and a lot of finance is going to the Housing First model – which offers housing and suitable care to people who have unique needs”

[Calum MacAulay – Journalist] The group also aims to move people to housing as quickly as they can. The people who use the services already will move to new facilities. There will be special support available from care departments. Big changes are on the horizon for homeless people in Glasgow. Although there is hope that they will be successful with these changes, there will be concerns until progress is seen. Calum MacAulay BBC An Là ann an Glaschu.
