Iomairt ùr gus luchd-turais a chumail air an socair

Gaelic Gàidhlig

[Karen Elder - Preseantair] Chuir a’ bhuidheann Skye Connect iomairt ùr air bhog an-diugh ’s iad ag amas air luchd-turais a chumail anns an sgìre barrachd na aon latha. Mar as trice, bidh daoine a’ cur seachad latha air an Eilean gus tadhail air àiteachan leithid Bodach an Stòir is Glumagan nan Sìthichean. ’S e Skye Time an t-ainm a th’ aca air an iomairt agus tha iad airson ’s gun gabh daoine air an socair fhad ’s a tha iad a’ cèilidh orra air an Eilean Sgitheanach. Tha an aithris seo aig Seonaidh MacCoinnich.

[Seonaidh MacCoinnich – Neach-naidheachd] Thàinig daoine a tha an sàs ann an gnìomhachas turasachd san Eilean Sgitheanach còmhla an-diugh airson an iomairt Skye Time a chur air bhog.

[Iain Coghill] Uill, leis an iomairt seo, tha sinn a’ feuchainn ri luchd-turais a’ tighinn gun Eilean gum bi iad an seo tìde nas fhaide agus a’ dol gu àiteachan air an Eilean nach bhios iad a’ dol cho tric.

[Seonaidh MacCoinnich – Neach-naidheachd] Agus tha ùidh aig luchd-turais air a’ chultair againn a bharrachd air na seallaidhean brèagha.

[Coinneach MacIlleathain] Mar as trice ’s e sgeulachdan matha a tha iad ag iarradh agus a’ faighinn a-mach mu dheidhinn a’ chultair agus a’ chànan agus an eachdraidh agus eachdraidh a tha freagarrach agus a tha ceart.

[Seonaidh MacCoinnich – Neach-naidheachd] Agus tha gnìomhachasan mothachail air cho cudromach ’s a tha na meadhanan sòisealta do dhaoine an-diugh.

[Aonghas Moireach] Is tha fios againn gu bheil an-dràsta buaidh mhòr aig na meadhanan sòisealta is an leithid agus a’ feuchainn a bhith ciamar a thoisich an luchd-turais agus airson an luchd-tadhail fhathast a tarraing dhan àite ach gun a’ smaoineachadh gun dh’fheumadh iad a bhith deiseil leis an Eilean ann an leth-latha a’ dràibheadh timcheall is an leithid.

[Seonaidh MacCoinnich – Neach-naidheachd] Tha rannsachadh a’ sealltainn gu bheil ùidh aig luchd-turais anns Gàidhlig cuideachd.

[Anna Walker] Bha mi dìreach air crìoch a chur air fo-fhastadh aig Visit Alba agus sgrìobh sinn a’ chiad ro-innleachd Gàidhlig airson turasachd airson Alba a bh’ againn riamh. Agus tha sinn stèidhichte air fianais gu bheil ùidh mhòr aig luchd-turais anns a’ Ghàidhlig agus a’ mhòr-chuid dhiubh ’s ann às à Ameireagaidh ’s a tha iad agus Roinn Eòrpa. Tha iad airson barrachd fios fhaighinn mu dheidhinn a’ Ghàidhlig agus tha iad airson faighinn a-mach mu dheidhinn na Gàidhlig fhad ’s a tha iad ann an àiteachan mar an Eilean Sgitheanach.

[Seonaidh MacCoinnich – Neach-naidheachd] So thigibh dhan Eilean Sgitheanach ach gabh do shocair a’ dol mun cuairt an Eilein agus tha mi an dòchas gum bi sìde nas fheàrr agaibh na th’ agam an seo an-diugh. Seonaidh MacCoinnich, BBC An Là, An t-Eilean Sgitheanach.

A new campaign to get tourists to take their time

English Beurla

[Karen Elder - Presenter] The group Sky Connect set up a new campaign today and they are aiming to keep tourists in the area more than one day. Most often, people spend a day on the Island to visit places such as the Old Man of Storr and the Fairy Pools. Skye Time is the name they have for the campaign and they want people to take their time as long as they are visiting them on the Isle of Skye. Seonaidh MacKenzie has this report.

[Seonaidh MacKenzie – Journalist] People who are involved in the tourist industry in the Isle of Skye came together today to set up the campaign Skye Time.

[John Coghill] Well, with this campaign, we are trying to get tourists to come to the Isle of Skye and they’ll be here longer and go to places on the Island that they won’t go too often.

[Seonaidh MacKenzie – Journalist] And tourists have an interest in our culture as well as our beautiful views.

[Coinneach MacLean] Most often, they want good stories and find out about culture and the language and the history and history that is fitting and is right.

[Seonaidh MacKenzie – Journalist] And businesses are aware of how important social media is to people today.

[Angus Murray] And we know that social media and the like has a big impact and trying to attract the tourists and visitors to the area but not to think that they are finished with the Island driving about it in a half day

[Seonaidh MacKenzie – Journalist] Research shows that tourists are interested in Gaelic too.

[Anna Walker] I have just finished a secondment to Visit Scotland we wrote the first Gaelic strategy ever for tourism for Scotland. And that is based on evidence that tourists have a big interest in Gaelic and the majority of them come from America and the Europe. They want more information about Gaelic and they want to find out more about Gaelic when they are in places like the Isle of Skye.

[Seonaidh MacKenzie – Journalist] so come to the Isle of Skye and take your time going around the Island and I’m sure you’ll have better weather than I have today. Seonaidh MacKenzie, BBC An Là, the Isle of Skye.
