Cò ris a tha lockdown coltach ann an Lunnainn?

Gaelic Gàidhlig

[Judi] Halò, is mise Judi. ’S ann à Leòdhas a tha mi ach a-nis tha mi a’ fuireach agus ag obair ann an Lunnainn. Tha mi air a bhith ag obair bhon taigh bho mheadhan a’ Mhàirt agus tha am flat agam a-nis mar oifis, cidsin, stiùideo yoga agus bùth chofaidh.

[Judi] An toiseach, bha mi gu math tàmailteach gu feumainn a bhith ann an Lunnainn airson lockdown agus bha mi ag iarraidh dhachaigh gu mo theaghlach.

[Judi] Tha lockdown air cothrom a thoirt dhomh a bhith a’ dèanamh barrachd anns a’ chommunity agam. Tha mi a’ fuireach ann an Southwark, aon de na h-àitichean as àirde anns a bheil an àireamh de dhaoine a tha a’ fulang leis a’ bhìoras.

[Judi] Tha mi mar phàirt de chòmhlan le còrr air dà cheud volunteer a tha a toirt cuideachadh do dhuine sam bith a tha feumach.

[Sìne] Halò! Is mise Sìne, tha mi a’ dèanamh obair saor-thoileach còmhla ri Judy. ’S e oifigear dìon a th’ annam agus bidh mi a’ cuideachadh leis a h-uile càil a tha an sgioba a’ dèanamh.

[Judi] Bidh sinn a’ ceannach biadh agus ga fhàgail aig na dorsan, cruinneachadh prescriptions, tha call service againn cuideachd airson daoine a tha dìreach ag iarraidh bruidhinn. Cuideachadh ann an dòigh sam bith really.

[Judi] ’S e àm duilich, duilich a tha seo, ach tha e math a bhith a’ faicinn daoine a’ tighinn còmhla agus a’ cuideachadh a chèile. Bithibh sàbhailt’, cheerio!

What’s lockdown like in London?

English Beurla

[Judi] Hello, I’m Judy. I’m from Lewis but I’m now living and working in London. I’ve been working from home since the middle of March and my flat is now an office, kitchen, yoga studio, and coffee shop.

[Judi] At first, I was frustrated that I would have to be in London for lockdown and I wanted to go home to my family.

[Judi] Lockdown has given me the opportunity to do more in my community. I live in Southwark, one of the areas with the highest number of people suffering with the virus.

[Judi] I’m part of a group of over 200 volunteers who are helping people in need.

Hello! I’m Sìne, I’m doing volunteer work with Judy.

I’m a protection officer and I help with everything that the team does.

[Judi] We buy food and leave it at doors, collect prescriptions, and we have a call service for anyone who just wants to talk. Helping in any way really.

[Judi] It’s a difficult, difficult time, but it’s good to see people coming together and helping each other. Stay safe, cheerio!
