Building a fence

Gaelic Gàidhlig

[Fiona] Tha an latha fada ro mhath airson a bhith ann am flat ann an Steòrnabhagh so tha mi air a bhith a' tighinn a-nall a Ghabhsann airson beagan obair a dhèanamh. Agus tha Mam conveniently air obair a thoirt dhomh far nach urrainn dhith-se a bhith an sàs airson gum feum sinn a bhith social distancing. So tha mis' gu bhith a'càradh feansa a tha na h-eich a tha seo air briseadh.

[Fiona] Tha mi air an seann fheansa thoirt às a chèile a-nis agus tha na tools agam deiseil airson tòiseachaidh an fhear ùr a chur an sàs.

[Fiona] 'S ann air làithean mar seo tha mi cho taingeil gu bheil àite againn ri thighinn airson a' faighinn a-mach às a' bhaile airson uair a thìde no dhà, beagan obair a dhèanamh le ar làmhan. Chan eil gàrradh againn anns am flat ann an Steòrnabhagh so tha e a' còrdadh riumsa gu bheil sinn a' faighinn a'chothrom a bhith a-muigh idir.

[Fiona] 'S ged nach eil sinn a' faighinn am broinn an taighe còmhla ri mo phàrantan, tha sinn fhathast a' faighinn a' chothrom bruidhinn ri chèile tarsainn air an fheans', fiù's ma 's e comhairle a tha a' tighinn bho thaobh eile an fheans'.

[Fiona] Nis gu bheil e fhèin air dùsgadh, tha beagan cuideachaidh agam!

[Fiona] Chan eil i uabhasach straight ach tha sinn a'dèanamh adhartas co-dhiù. Dè do bheachd?

[Fiona] Air sgàth 's nach eil Rhys ag obair an-dràsta cuideachd tha e a' còrdadh ri esan gu mòr a bhith a'tighinn a-mach dhan Ghabhsainn còmhla rium 's beagan obair a dhèanamh còmhla. Chan eil e buileach na làithean samhraidh ris gu bheil e cleachdte ann an Astràilia, ach tha a'ghrian air beagan togail a thoirt dhà co-dhiù.

[Fiona] Tha i fhèin a'd èanamh inspection a-nis.

[Fiona] An do phasaig i?

[Agnes] Fuirich mionaid!

Building a fence

English Beurla

[Fiona] The day is far too good to be in a flat in Stornoway, so I've been coming over to Galson to do a bit of work. And Mam has conveniently given me work that she can't be involved with because we need to be social distancing. So, I'm going to be a fence that these horses have broken.

[Fiona] I've taken the old fence apart now and my tools are ready to begin putting the new one together.

[Fiona] It's on days like this that I am so thankful that we have a place to come to get out of the town for an hour or two to do some manual labour. We don't have a garden in the flat in Stornoway so I like that we have the chance to get out at all.

[Fiona] And even though we don't go into the house with my parents, we still have the opportunity to speak to each other over the fence, even if it is advice that's coming from the other side of the fence.

[Fiona] Now that he has woken up, I have some help!

[Fiona] It's not very straight but we're making progress at least. What do you think?

[Fiona] Because Rhys isn't working right now, he likes to be coming out to Galson with me and doing a bit of work together. It's not quite the summer days that he's used to in Australia, but the sun has given him a wee lift anyway.

[Fiona] Herself is doing an inspection now.

[Fiona] Did it pass?

[Agnes] Wait a minute!
