Gaelic Gàidhlig

[Calum] Halò! An t-seachdain sa tha mise air a bhith a’ smaointinn mu shlàinte-inntinn, agus cho cudromach ’s a tha e a bhith mothachail air gu h-àraidh an-dràsta. Uaireannan tha mi a’ faireachdainn gu bheil a h-uile cothrom agam, gun urrainn dhomh rud sam bith a dhèanamh agus ’s ann an uair sin a tha m’ eanchainn air ghleus. Ach làithean eile, chan eil e cho math.

[Calum] Bidh mi a’ faireachdainn gun neart, caran glacte taobh a-staigh m’ eanchainn fhèin, agus air chall.

[Calum] Agus leis an fhìrinn innse, bha e doirbh spionnadh a lorg airson am bhidio seo a dhèanamh. Ach smaoinich mi rium fhìn – dè na rudan a tha mise air a bhith dèanamh gus togail a thoirt dhomh tro lockdown?

[Calum] Feumaidh tu rudan a dhèanamh a tha a’ toirt ort faireachdainn mar thu fhèin a-rithist. Ged a b’ fheàrr leam a bhith suas anns na beanntan no snàmh aig tràigh, tha mi air an cothrom a ghabhail tòrr rothaireachd agus tòrr ruith a dhèanamh.

[Calum] Sin trì, seo doirbh.

[Calum] Agus uaireannan dìreach coiseachd càs rùisgte air an raon-goilf.

[Calum] Leis nach eil duine a’ cluich, cha tèid mo bhualadh le ball.

[Calum] Chan eil mi air mo bhana-charaid fhaicinn airson dà mhìos ’s tha sin doirbh ach tha sinn a’ bruidhinn a h-uile latha agus tha mi air barrachd de mo charaidean fhaicinn tro fharpaisean ceist na bhithinn mar às àbhaist, chanainn.

[Calum] Agus tha fhios agam nach eil eacarsaich mar sin dhan a h-uile duine, do chuid ’s e a bhith a’ faighinn air chall ann an leabhar a tha gan cuideachadh. Ach tha mi a’ smaointinn gu bheil an ceangal sin le daoine eile air leth cudromach agus a bhith a’ bruidhinn mu mar a tha sinn a’ faireachdainn. Tha cuimhne a’m a’ chiad turas a rinn mi e cha robh mi cleachdte ris agus bha e eagalach ach chuidich e mi. Ma tha droch latha agam gabhaidh mi beachd air na rudan air a bheil smachd agam. Bheil mi air gu leòr òl? Bha mi air biadh fallainn ithe? Bheil feum agam air norrag? Rudan sìmplidh aig a bheil smachd agam fhèin air. Bruidhinn air sin, tha mi a’ dol a-muigh!

Sensible advice from Calum

English Beurla

[Calum] Hello! This week I’ve been thinking about mental health and how important it is to be aware of it especially right now. Sometimes I feel like I have every opportunity, that I can do anything, and in those times my mind is in tune. But on other days, it isn’t so good.

[Calum] I feel weak, kind of trapped in my own head, and lost.

[Calum] And to tell the truth, it was difficult to find the energy to make this video. But I thought to myself – what things have I done to give myself a lift during lockdown?

[Calum] You need to do things that make you feel like yourself again. Although I’d rather be up in the mountains or swimming at a beach, I’ve taken the opportunity to do lots of cycling and running.

[Calum] That’s three, this is hard.

[Calum] And sometimes just walking barefoot on the golf course.

[Calum] As no one’s playing, I won’t get hit by a ball.

[Calum] I haven’t seen my girlfriend for two months and that’s difficult, but we speak every day and I’ve seen my friends more through quizzes than I would usually I’d say.

[Calum] And I know that exercise like that is not for everyone, for some it’s getting lost in a book that helps them. But I think that that connection with other people is extremely important and speaking about how we’re feeling. I remember the first time I did it I wasn’t used to it and it was scary, but it helped me. If I’m having a bad day, I’ll focus on the things I can control. Have I drunk enough? Have I eaten healthy food? Do I need a nap? Simple things which I can control. Speaking of that, I’m going outside!
