[Anna NicLeòid] Halò agus fàilte oirbh chun a’ chiad phrògraim de sreath ùr, Leugh Mi. Sreath far am bi mise, Anna NicLeòid, a’ còmhradh ri dithis aoigh gach seachdain mu na trì leabhraichean as fheàrr leothasan, co-dhiù, ‘s e uirsgeulan de gach gnè, bàrdachd, cunntasan-beatha no eachdraidh. Ach a bharrachd air an sin, tha mi an dòchas tro bhith a’ bruidhinn mu na leabhraichean gum faigh sinn barrachd a-mach mun dithis a tha nam chuideachd.

[Anna NicLeòid] ‘S e deasaich a tha còmhla rium an t-seachdain-sa à Barraigh agus à Èirisgeigh. Ishi NicIlleathain a tha air tilleadh a dh’ Alba às dèidh bliadhnaichean ag obair ann an Afraga. Bidh i ri sgrìobhadh agus ‘s dòcha gun aithnich sibh a guth cuideachd am measg caractaran cartunaichean chloinne. Fàilte chun a’ phrògraim, Ishi.

[Ishi NicIlleathain] Halò, mòran taing.

[Anna NicLeòid] Agus, còmhla rithe-se, tha Dòmhnall Iain Dòmhnallach a dh’ fhàg Èirisgeigh airson a dhol dhan oilthigh ann an Oxford agus a tha ag ionnsachadh ann an sin. Mar a tha eanchainn ag obair, is am measg rudan eile, tha e cuideachd na dheasaiche air iris ealain anns an oilthigh. Fàilte ort-sa cuideachd, a Dhòmhnaill Iain.

[Dòmhnall Iain Dòmhnallach] ‘S math a bhith an seo.

[Anna NicLeòid] Nise, a bharrachd air a bhith bruidhinn air trì dhe na leabhraichean as fhèarr leotha, tha an dithis aca air aon leabhar a thaghadh agus a mholadh dhan duine eile agus gheibh sinn a-mach nas fhaide air adhart anns a’ phrògram dè am beachd air roghainnean càch a chèile.

Chaidh am prògram seo, Leugh Mi, a chraoladh an toiseach ann an 2015.

Welcoming Ishi and Dòmhnall Iain

English Beurla

[Anna MacLeod] Hello and welcome to the first programme in a new series, Leugh Mi (I read). A series where I, Anna MacLeod, will be talking to two guests each week about their three favourite books whether it’s novels of all sorts, poetry, autobiographies or history. But in addition to this, I hope by talking about the books that we will find out more about the pair who are with me.

[Anna MacLeod] It’s people from the Southern Isles who are with me this week from Barra and from Eriskay. Ishi MacLean who has returned to Scotland after years working in Africa. She writes and you might recognise her voice too from those amongst children’s cartoon characters. Welcome to the programme, Ishi.

[Ishi MacLean] Hello, many thanks.

[Anna MacLeod] And with her is Donald Iain MacDonald who left Eriskay to go to university in Oxford and he is learning there. As the mind works and amongst other things, he is also the editor of an arts magazine at university. Welcome to you too, Donald Iain.

[Donald Iain MacDonald] It’s good to be here.

[Anna MacLeod] Now, in addition to talking about their three favourite books the pair have selected one book and recommended it to the other person and we’ll find out later on in the programme what they thought of each other’s’ choices.

This programme, Leugh Mi, was first broadcast in 2015.
