Bùth-obrach Shona - Bòrd chailc

Gaelic Gàidhlig

[Shona] Tha seann frèam[1] agam ann a sheo agus tha mi a’ dol a thòiseachadh le air an taobh aig a’ chùl. Tha mi a’ dol ga fhosgladh agus seo a thoirt às mas urrainn dhomh. OK So, tha am pìos fiodh’ aig a’ chùl agam, seo na tha mi a’ dol a chleachdadh airson a’ bhòrd-dubh a dhèanamh. Agus an toiseach tha mi dìreach a’ dol a chleachdadh pàipear-gainmhich dìreach airson ’s gum bi e deiseil airson peantadh.

[Shona] Chan eil feum agam air a’ ghlainne, ’s fheàrr dhomh a chur seachad gu faiceallach. Tha mi an uair sin a’ cur peant air an fhiodh a tha freagarrach airson bòrd-chailc, ga bhruisigeadh o thaobh gu taobh.

[Shona] Sin, tha mi a’ dol ga fhàgail airson uair no dhà gus an tiormaich sin ’s an uair sin nì mi còmhdachadh eile.

[Shona] Nist, tha mi a’ dol a ghlanadh a’ bhruis agam ’s an uair sin tillidh mi dhan a’ frèam. Agus ’s e tha mi a’ dol a dhèanamh ach am frèam a tha seo a chòmhdachadh le aodaich agus tha seann lèine agam. ’S e tha mi a’ dol a dhèanamh ach seo a chur a-mach air mo bhòrd agus tha mi a’ dol ga chur a-mach mar sin agus am frèam a chur air.

[Shona] Geàrraidh mi an aodach timcheall air a’ frèam, ga fhàgail dhà no trì òirlich nas motha air gach taobh.

[Shona] Tha mi dol ga ghearradh aig ceàrn mar gum biodh. Tha ’s dòcha ceudameatair ann a shin ‘s tha mi dol a dh’fhàgail mun aon seòrsa rud, ‘s dòcha pìos bheag a’ bharrachd na sin bhon chòrnair agus dìreach ga ghearradh mar seo.

[Shona] Seo a-nis, so tha mi air a ghearradh agus tha gunna-glaoidh agam ann a sheo. Tha mi a’ dol a chur dìreach beagan glaoidh anns a’ chòrnair ann a sheo. ‘S an uair sin, taobh seo a thoirt shuas agus dìreach sin a chur sìos air a’ ghlaodh gus an cùm e ann a shin. So pìos bheag glaoidh eile air muin far an robh sin agus an uair sin seo a phasgadh mun cuairt agus a-staigh mar sin airson ‘s gum bi còrnair math glan againn. Agus nì mi an aon rud shuas an seo. Nist, tha am bòrd agam caran salach mar a chì sibh ach thig sin far an aodaich gu furasta. Tha mi a’ dol a dhèanamh sin mun cuairt air na còrnairean air fad.

[Shona] Ma tha an t-aodach ro phailt, tha mi ga sgioblachadh leis an t-siosar agus a’ sticeadh sìos na ceithir taobhan le glaodh.

[Shona] Nist, tha mi a’ dol a dhèanamh an taobh eile ’s tha mi a’ dol a dhèanamh crois às a’ phìos aodaich seo, dìreach tòiseachadh anns a’ mheadhan. Ò, ma gheibh mi greim air, sin agad e. Agus, tha mi dìreach a’ dol a dhèanamh crois bho aon chòrnair dhan chòrnair eile mar seo. Bhon a’ chòrnair fhèin, agus an aon rud eadar an dà chòrnair eile. Glè mhath ma-thà.

[Shona] Agus airson dìreach gu leòr fhàgail, airson ’s gun urrainn dhomh an glaodh a chur ris shuas ann a sheo so feumaidh mi dìreach ’s dòcha gearradh shuas dhan chridhe sin. Tha mi dìreach a’ fàgail ’s dòcha mu òirleach no òirleach gu leth.

[Shona] Tha mi dìreach a’ dèanamh toll anns an aodach airson ’s gun tig na pìosan beaga meatailt a-mach oir tha mi feumach orra sin airson cùl an fhrèama a chumail a-staigh. Dìreach mar seo, dìreach snip beag ’s an uair sin tha e a’ tighinn troimhe.

[Shona] Bha mi dìreach airson dèanamh cinnteach gu bheil mi a’ cur an glaodh anns an àite cheart agus cuiridh mi loidhne shìos, dìreach loidhne air fad agus an uair sin bidh e … thèid agam air seo a chur sìos. Dìreach mar seo.

[Shona] Cuiridh mi dà chòta pheant eile air a’ bhòrd. Feumaidh mi an uair sin a chòmhdachadh le cailc mun bi e deiseil.

[Shona] Sin deiseil, bidh e beagan teann a-nist, dìreach às dèidh dhan aodach a bhith anns. Tha mi dìreach a’ dol ga putadh sìos air mo shocair. ’S a-nist cuiridh mi na pìosan seo shìos. Glè mhath!

[Shona] Agus airson sgeadachadh, tha mi a’ ceangal sreang mun cuairt air a’ mhullach agus a’ crochadh cnagan ris a chumas dealbhan no pìosan pàipear.

[Shona] Seo a-nist, deiseil. Rudeigin glè mhath airson seòmar nighinn no balaich ‘s dh’fhaodadh sibh aodach sam bith a chleachdadh an uair sin. Deiseil!

Shona’s Workshop – A chalk board

English Beurla

[Shona] I have an old frame here and I’m going to start on the side at the back. I’m going to open it and take this out if I can. So, I have the piece of wood at the back, this is what I’m going to use to make the board. And first, I’m just going to use sandpaper just so that it is ready for painting.

[Shona] I don’t need the glass, I’d better put it aside carefully. I’m then putting paint on the wood that is suitable for a chalk board, brushing it from side to side.

[Shona] There, I’m going to leave it for an hour or two until this dries and then I’ll do another coat.

[Shona] Now, I’m going to clean my brush and then I’ll return to the frame. And what I’m going to do is to coat this frame with clothes and I have an old shirt. And whatv I am going to do is put this out on my table and I am going to put it out like this and a frame on it.

[Shona] I’ll cut the clothes around on the frame, leaving it two or three inches bigger on each side.

[Shona] I’m going to cut it at a kind of angle. There’s maybe a centimetre there and I’m going to leave it about the same, maybe a little bit more than that from the corner and just cut it like this.

[Shona] Now then, so I have cut it and I have a glue gun here. I’m going to put just a little bit of glue in this corner. And then, take this side up and just put that down on the glue so that it will stay there. So a little bit more glue on top where that was and then fold this around and in like that so that we have a good clean corner. And I’ll do the same thing up here. Now, my table is a kind of dirty as you can see but that will come off the clothes easily. I’m going to do that around all of the corners.

[Shona] If there is too much of the cloth, I’ll tidy it with the scissors and stick down the four sides with glue.

[Shona] Now, I’m going to do the other side and I’m going to make a cross from this piece of clothes, just starting in the middle. Oh, if I can get a hold of it, there you go. And, I’m just going to make a cross from one corner to the other corner like this. From the corner itself, and the same thing between the two other corners. Very good then.

[Shona] And I want to leave just enough, so that I can add glue up here so I need to just maybe cut up to that heart. I’m just leaving maybe about an inch or an inch and a half.

[Shona] I’m just making a hole in the cloth so that the wee bits of metal will come out because I need those to keep the back of the frame in. Just like this, just a wee snip and then it comes through.

[Shona] I just wanted to make sure that I’m putting the glue in the right place and I’ll put a line down, just a full line and then I’ll manage to to put this down. Just like this.

[Shona] I’ll put two more coats on the board. I need to then coat it with chalk before it’s ready.

[Shona] That’s ready, it will be a bit tight now, just after the clothes being in it. I’m just going to push it down carefully. And now I’ll put these pieces down. Very good!

[Shona] And for decoration, I’m tying string around the top and hanging a peg to it that will keep pictures or pieces of paper.

There now, ready. Something that is very good for a girl or boy’s room and you can use any clothes then. Ready!
