Coinnich ri Innes

[Innes] Tha mi dìreach a’ fosgladh an àrd biadh airson na mucan ’s tha mi a’ dol a-mach le seo. Tha iad a’ dèanamh tòrr fuaim an-dràsta gu faigh iad biadh.

[Innes] Is mise Innes MacSuain. Tha mi à Nis agus tha mi fichead ’s a ceithir bliadhna a dh’aois agus tha mi a’ dol a-steach dhan mhinistrealachd anns an Eaglais Shaoir. Tha mi a’ tòiseachadh sin, a’ dol sìos a Dhùn Èideann dhan cholaiste ann a shin ann an dà sheachdain eile.

[Preseantair] Greis aig an taigh as t-samhradh air croit an teaghlaich ann an Nis dha Innes mus cuir e aghaidh air Dùn Èideann san t-Sultain gus gairm na ministrealachd a fhreagairt.

[Anna] Eil agad ri Greugais a dhèanamh cuideachd?

[Innes] Tha.

[Anna] ’S dè cho math ’s a tha thus’ air cànanan?

[Innes] Uill, chan eil mi cho dona.

[Preseantair] Ged a tha an seminary ann an Dùn Èideann bidh Innes a’ fuireach ann an Glaschu, far an do rinn e a’ chiad cheum aige.

[Innes] Tha tòrr leabhraichean agam anns an taigh ’s tha feum agam na leabhraichean gu lèir a thoirt sìos a Ghlaschu so tha sinn dìreach a’ packadh na leabhraichean ann am bucais. Ach chan fhaigh sinn a h-uile càil sìos nuair a tha sinn a’ dol sìos an ath-sheachdain. Tha mi a’ smaoineachadh gum feum cuideigin a dhol sìos le bhan.

[Preseantair] Ged nach eil Innes ach òg tha grunn bhliadhnaichean ann bho dh’fhairich e gairm na ministrealachd an toiseach.

[Innes] Cha robh mi ach seachd deug bliadhna a dh’aois agus bha mi as an eaglais ann an sheo agus ’s e an ordain againn fhìn a bh’ ann agus ’s e madainn Disathairne a bh’ ann. Bha sinn anns an eaglais fhèin agus ’s e seirbheis a bh’ ann air Numbers 14: “But My Servant Caleb”. ’S bha fios agam nuair a bha e a’ bruidhinn gun robh feum agam fhìn a bha mar servant. “But My Servant Caleb”. Mhothaich mi air an latha ud gun robh Dia gam iarraidh-sa a dhol a-steach dhan mhinistrealachd agus bha fios agam straight away gun robh E gam iarraidh-s’ airson a bhith nam servant dha a h-uile duine.

[Anna] Uill, bidh gu lèor aige ri ràdh co-dhiù. Chan eil duilgheadas sam bith aige a thaobh a bhith a’ bruidhinn agus tha e glè mhath air a bhith a’ dèanamh sgrùdadh. Tha e a’ dèanamh tòrr studygadh air na rudan a tha e a’ dol a ràdh. ’S tha cuimhne mhath aige agus bho bha e na bhalach gu math òg seo bha e airson a dhèanamh. Tha fios aige fhèin agus tha fios againne gur e beatha gu math doirbh a tha gu bhith aige, a tha gu bhith roimhe, ach ma tha, mas e seo an rud a tha an Cruthadair a’ miannachadh air esan a dhèanamh, mas e seo roghainn a tha a’ Chruthadair ag iarraidh dha tha mi a’ smaointinn gum faigh e an taic ’s an cuideachadh a tha a dhìth air.

[Innes] Seo an toiseach ùr a th’ agam. Bidh e duilich. Tòrr obair ann agus tha mi rudeigin nervous mu dheidhinn na deuchainnean ’s mu dheidhinn a h-uile càil a th’ ann ach ’s e a’ cholaiste a th’ ann! Tha mi a’ coimhead air adhart ris!

Chaidh am prògram seo, Balaich a' Bhìobaill, a chraoladh an toiseach ann an 2015.

Meet Innes

[Innes] I am just opening up food for the pigs and I am going out with this. They make lots of noise just now until they get fed.

[Innes] I am Innes MacSween. I am from Ness and I am twenty four years old and I am going into the ministry in the Free Church. I am starting that, going down to Edinburgh to the college there in another two weeks.

[Narrator] A short spell at home in the summer on the family croft in Ness for Innes before he heads for Edinburgh in September to answer the call of the ministry.

[Anna] Do you have to do Greek too?

[Innes] Yes.

[Anna] And how good are you at languages?

[Innes] Well I am not so bad.

[Narrator] Although the seminary is in Edinburgh Innes will be staying in Glasgow, where he did his first degree.

[Innes] I have lots of books in the house and I need to take all the books down to Glasgow so we are just packing the books in a box. But we won’t get everything down when we go down next week. I think someone will need to go down with a van

[Narrator] Although Innes is only young it’s a few years since he first felt the call of the ministry.

[Innes] I was only seventeen years old and I was in the church here and it was our own order and it was a Saturday morning. We were in the church itself and it was a service on Numbers 14: “But My Servant Caleb”. And I knew when he was speaking that I myself needed to be like a servant. “But My Servant Caleb”. I realised on that day that God wanted me to go into the ministry and I knew straight away that He wanted me to be a servant to everyone.

[Anna] Well he’ll have plenty to say anyway. He doesn’t have any problems with speaking and he is very good at scrutinising. He does lots of studying on the things he is going to say. And he has a good memory and since he was a fairly young boy he has wanted to do this. He himself knows and we know that it is a very difficult life that is ahead of him, but if, if this is what the Creator desires him to do, if this is the choice that the Creator has for him I think that he will get the support and the help that he needs.

[Innes] This is my new start. It will be difficult. Lots of work and I am somewhat nervous about the exams and about everything but it’s the college! I am looking forward to it!
