Fasgadh dha na caoraich

Gaelic Gàidhlig

[Sweeny] Dhachaigh a-nis airson pròiseact bheag air an tug mi iomradh mar-thà – a’ cur air dòigh fasgadh airson nan caorach.

[Sweeny] Nuair a chì mise cothrom rudeigin a chleachdadh às ùr tha mi a’ smaoineachadh air dòighean sin a dhèanamh. Tha mo nàbaidh, James, gam chuideachadh an-diugh leis an tractor mòr aige na taidhrichean a tha seo a ghluasad dhachaigh. Bhiodh na taidhrichean air an tilgeil às mar sgudail ach tha iad a-nis a’ dol a thoirt fasgadh dha na caoraich agamsa. Tha sin a’ sàbhaladh dhòmhsa fasgadh a thogail dhaibh agus tha seo cuideachd a’ sàbhaladh cìs-sguadail dhan comhairle. Tha a h-uile duine a’ buannachadh.

[Sweeny] Tha mu ’s dòcha timcheall air ceud no ceud gu leth taidhir às gach bèile agus tha trì-cairteal de thunna de chuideam anns a h-uile fear so chan eil iad siud a’ dol a ghluasad nuair a bhios gèile ann.

[Sweeny] Cha robh dòigh sam bith eile agamsa air rudan cho trom ri seo a ghluasad agus so tha sinn a’ cur sia dhan trailer gach turas agus a’ dol a-steach leotha gu na pàirtean eadar-dhealaichte dhen lot far a bheil mi a’ cur fasgadh.

[Sweeny] Ged a tha talamh math agams’ ann an seo, chan eil tòrr fasgaidh ann bhon ghaoith làidir a bhios a’ tighinn a-steach bhon Chuan Siar. Gheibh mi grèim air James a-rithist uaireigin son an cur ann an àite freagarrach airson fasgadh mus tig an geamhradh.

[Iain] Tha na tyres aige a-steach ann an sin agus tha e uabhasach math gum bi e a’ fasgadh ann an sin. Faodaidh na caoraich a dhol taobh sam bith dhe na tyres agus tha fasgadh math ann dhaibh.

Shelter for the sheep

English Beurla

[Sweeny] This is the wee project that I mentioned earlier – arranging shelter for the sheep.

[Sweeny] When I see an opportunity to use something as new I think of ways to make that happen. My neighbour, James, is helping me today with his big tractor to move these tyres home. The tyres would have thrown out as rubbish but they are now going to give shelter to my sheep. That saves me building a shelter for them and this also saves refuse tax for the council. Everyone wins.

[Sweeny] There are maybe around a 100 to 150 tyres in each bale and there is three quarters of a tonne of weight in every one so those aren’t going to move when there’s a gale.

[Sweeny] I had no other way of moving things as heavy as this and so we’re putting six into the trailer each time and are going in with them to the different parts of the croft where I’m building shelter.

[Sweeny] Although I’ve got good land here, there isn’t a lot of shelter from the strong wind that comes in from the Altantic. I’ll get hold of James again sometime to put them in a suitable place for a shelter before the winter comes.

[Iain] He’s got the tyres in there and it’s very good that he’ll be sheltering in there. The sheep can go any side of the tyres and there’s good shelter for them.
