Taigh Bhoth Fhleisginn (3)
Bha mi ag innse dhuibh mu Aleister Crowley agus Taigh Bhoth Fhleisginn. Nuair a bha e ann an Lunnainn, thachair Crowley ri fear a bha an sàs ann am buidheann ris an cainte The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. Bha na buill an sàs ann an draoidheachd de dh’iomadh seòrsa. Am measg nam ball, bha an sgrìobhadair ainmeil W. B. Yeats. Cha b’ fhada gus an robh Aleister Crowley fhèin na bhall.
Dh’ionnsaich Aleister mu dheas-ghnàthan draoidheil agus mar a bhiodh cleachdadh dhrogaichean mar phàirt dhiubh. ʼS ann goirid an dèidh sin a cheannaich e Taigh Bhoth Fhleisginn.
Chaidh Crowley agus cuid de mhuinntir Golden Dawn a-mach air a chèile gu dubh. Bha cuid mì-thoilichte leis an dol a-mach feiseil aig Crowley. Bha e dà-sheòrsach agus bha iomadh cèile feiseil aige – boireannaich agus fireannach. Ge-tà, phòs e tè Shasannach, Rose Kelly, ann an naoi ceud deug ʼs a trì (1903). Bha dithis chloinne aca còmhla agus thachair rudeigin ‘spioradail’ don chàraid nuair a bha iad air mìos nam pòg anns an Èiphit. Ach an dèidh ochd bliadhna chaidh Rose a chur do dh’ospadal dhaibhsan a bha a’ fulang le buaidh na dibhe agus tinneas-inntinn.
Chruthaich Crowley nàdar de chreideamh air a bheil Thelema. Tha an t-ainm stèidhichte air facal às an t-Seann Ghreugais. Tha Thelema a’ dol fhathast. Gu ìre, tha an creideamh stèidhichte air leabhar beag ris an canar Leabhar an Lagh. Bha Crowley a’ cumail a-mach gun do sgrìobh e an leabhar nuair a bha e ag èisteachd ris na briathran aig nàdar de dh’aingeal, air an robh Aiwass mar ainm. Sgrìobh e sìos briathran Aiwass facal air an fhacal. No, ʼs e sin a bha e fhèin a’ cumail a-mach.
Fhuair Crowley cuidhteas Taigh Bhoth Fhleisginn ann an naoi ceud deug is ceithir-deug (1914). Goirid an dèidh sin, sheòl e dha na Stàitean Aonaichte. Tro bhliadhnaichean a’ Chogaidh Mhòir, bha e a’ coiteachadh às leth na Gearmailt ann an New York. Chuir sin fearg air mòran Bhreatannach. Bha iad dhen bheachd gun robh Aleister ri fealltachd an aghaidh Bhreatainn. Ge-tà, ʼs ann a bha e ag obair às leth nan seirbheisean brathaidh Breatannach, a’ dèanamh brathadh air Gearmailtich ann an Ameireagaidh.
Anns na ficheadan, bha e ann an Sicily greis. Bha e ag iarraidh abaid a thogail far am biodh daoine an sàs ann an deas-ghnàthan Thelema. A rèir choltais, bha Crowley fo dhroch bhuaidh dhrogaichean mun àm sin. Chaochail fear dhen luchd-leantainn aige an sin. Bha an riaghaltas faisisteach aig Benito Mussolini mì-thoilichte le Aleister agus dh’iarr iad air an dùthaich fhàgail sa bhad.
Chaochail Crowley ann an Sasainn ann an naoi ceud deug, ceathrad ʼs a seachd (1947). Ach tha Taigh Bhoth Fhleisginn fhathast cliùmhor. Anns na seachdadan is ochdadan bha e leis an fhear-chiùil Jimmy Page on chòmhlan ainmeil Led Zepellin. Chaidh a sgrios le teine o chionn beagan bhliadhnaichean ach tha e a-nise le buidheann-chathrannais ionadail. Tha planaichean aca an taigh a leasachadh mar àite-fuirich agus mar àite-taisbeanaidh. Cha tàinig sgeul fada Thaigh Bhoth Fhleisginn gu crìch fhathast.

Puing-chànain na Litreach: buaidh na dibhe: the effect of alcohol. Dibhe is the genitive singular of the feminine noun deoch ‘drink’ (with a presumption that, without qualification e.g. deoch uisge, deoch bainne, an alcoholic beverage is meant). It should properly be dighe but the ‘gh’ is so commonly pronounced like a ‘bh’ (cf. leughadh ‘reading’ which is often pronounced ‘leubhadh’) that it is regularly written dibhe today. Fo bhuaidh na dibhe is a common expression for ‘under the influence of alcohol’. The more serious disease of alcoholism is tinneas na dibhe or alcolachd.
Gnàthas-cainnt na Litreach: mar a bhiodh cleachdadh dhrogaichean mar phàirt dhiubh: how the use of drugs would be part of them.
