Panto Mòr na Nollaige aig Fèisean nan Gàidheal

[Màiri Rodgers – Preseantair] Meal an naidheachd orra. Nis - a gheibh thu ma chuireas tu òrain Nollaige, an Great British Bake Off, bana-bhuidseach agus clann-sgoile Hearach còmhla? Uill an-diugh 's e thàinig às ach Panto Mòr na Nollaige aig Fèisean nan Gàidheal agus an sgioba a' taisbeanadh an dreach aca fhèin de ‘Hansel is Gretel’ ann am Bun-sgoil Sir E Scott. Ghabh Dòmhnall MacLaomainn sgrìob thairis air a’ Chliseam dhuinne.

[Dòmhnall MacLaomainn – Neach-aithris] Às dèidh Deasbad nan Sgoiltean an t-seachdain-sa chaidh ’s e an deasbad a bh’ aig sgoilearan òga Sir E Scott an-diugh, an robh cuideigin air cùlaibh Hansel is Gretel, no nach robh?

[MJ Dean] So tha sinn a’ dèanamh ‘Hansel agus Gretel’ an-dràsta. Tha gainnead bidhe anns an sgìre agus tha feum aig Hansel agus Gretel biadh a lorg anns a’ choille aig Fèill Mhòr na Fuine, ach tha iad a’ coinneachadh ri bana-bhuidseach agus tha splaoid aca às dèidh sin.

[Dòmhnall MacLaomainn – Neach-aithris] Tha sgioba Fèisean nan Gàidheal air turas trì seachdainean, a’ dol gu sgoiltean air feadh na h-Alba. Tha iad den bheachd gu bheil clann sna h-eileanan rud beag nas diùid ach chòrd e ris an dithis sa co-dhiù.

[Alasdair] Bha bana-bhuidseach ann agus bodach, mar bhodach, ginger bodach agus bha Gretel ann cuideachd. Bha e a’ còrdadh rium rud beag.

[Flora] Airson bha Gretel sgoinneil agus bha Hansel a’ trod, no, bha Gretel a’ trod ri Hansel!

[Calum Dòmhnallach] Sin an rud as motha. Sin an t-adhbhar a tha sinn an seo a Dhòmhnaill, dìreach gum bi deagh latha aig a’ chloinn agus gum bi iad a’ faireachdainn mar phàirt dheth ’s gun cuimhnich iad e oir tha e cudromach gu bheil cleasaichean agus dealbhan-cluiche a’ tighinn gu na sgoiltean agus dìreach gu bheil iadsan a’ faicinn a’ chothroim a th’ ann a thaobh Gàidhlig, a bhith dèanamh rudan mar sin agus gu bheil comas ann sin a dhèanamh tro mheadhan na Gàidhlig.

[Dòmhnall MacLaomainn – Neach-aithris] Thèid taisbeanadh sònraichte airson a’ phobaill a chumail oidhche Dhiardaoin san Ironworks ann an Inbhir Nis. Feum air ‘s dòcha atharrachadh no dhà?

[Calum Dòmhnallach] Dh’ fheumadh sinn ‘s dòcha bruidhinn air sin cuideachd, cha do bhruidhinn sinn fhathast air ach ‘s dòcha rud beag no dhà extra a chur a-staigh nach fhaodadh tu ràdh air beulaibh cloinne, eil fhios agaibh. Ach sin a th’ann am panto co-dhiù, tha e ann airson inbhich agus clann. An-diugh cuideachd mhothaich mi gu robh e a’ còrdadh ri na tidsearan so ’s e rud math a tha sin cuideachd, chan ann dìreach airson na cloinne a tha e.

[Dòmhnall MacLaomain – Neach-aithris] thachair dha Hansel agus Gretel ma-thà? Uill, cha mhill mi an sgeulachd dhuibhse a tha dol ga fhaicinn ach tha e sàbhailte a ràdha gun d’ fhuair iad cothrom dannsa ’s òran a ghabhail mus tàinig an sgeòil gu crìoch. Dòmhnall MacLaomainn, BBC An Là, air An Tairbeart.

Fèisean nan Gàidheal’s Great Christmas Panto

[Màiri Rodgers – Presenter] Congratulations to them. Now – what do you get if you mix Christmas songs with the Great British Bake Off, a witch and Harris school children? Well today, it was Fèisean nan Gàidheal’s Great Christmas Panto and the team were showcasing their own version of Hansel and Gretel in Sir E Scott Primary School. Donald Lamont took a trip over the Clisham.

[Donald Lamont – Reporter] After the Schools Debate last week, the young pupils of Sir E Scott school were today debating whether or not there was somebody behind Hansel and Gretel.

[MJ Dean] So we are currently performing Hansel and Gretel. There’s a food shortage in the area and Hansel and Gretel must find food in the forest at the Great Bake Sale, but they meet a witch and then they go on an adventure.

Donald Lamont – Reporter] The Fèisean nan Gàidheal team are on a three week tour, visiting schools across Scotland. They are of the opinion that island children are a bit shyer but this pair enjoyed it anyway.

[Alasdair] There was a witch, a gingerbread man and Gretel too. I enjoyed it a little.

[Flora] Because Gretel was excellent and Hansel was telling off, no, Gretel was telling off Hansel!

[Calum MacDonald] That’s the main thing. That’s the reason we’re here, Donald, to make sure the children have a good day, that they feel part of it and that they’ll remember it. It’s important that actors and plays visit schools so that children can see the opportunities there are in terms of Gaelic, that they can get involved and that they see that they can do so through the medium of Gaelic.

[Donald Lamont – Reporter] There will be a special show for the public on Thursday night in the Ironworks in Inverness. Will they perhaps need to make a few changes?

[Calum MacDonald] We’d perhaps need to discuss that, we haven’t spoken about it yet but we’ll maybe put in a few extra things that you couldn’t say in front of children, you know. But that’s what a panto is all about anyway, it’s for adults and children. Today I noticed that the teachers were also enjoying it so that’s a good thing, it’s not just for the children.

[Donald Lamont – Reporter] What was Hansel and Gretel’s fate then? Well, I won’t ruin the story for those of you who are going to see it but safe to say there was plenty opportunity to dance and sing before the story came to an end. Donald Lamont, BBC An Là, in Tarbert.
