Fèis-chiùil ùr ann am Beinn na Fadhla

[Iain Macaonghais – Preseantair] Nise, dh’fhaodadh sluagh Uibhist a dhol am meud a chairteal uiread thairis air dà latha, nuair a bhios Fèis an Eilein Dhuirch a’ dol anns an Iuchar. ‘S e fèis ùr a tha seo, a thèid a chumail ann am Beinn na Fadhla, a bhios freagarrach do gach aois. Thathar an dòchas gun toir e togail do luchd-gnothachais agus nach cuir an aimsir bacadh air. Tha Shona NicDhòmhnaill ag aithris.

[Shona NicDhòmhnaill – Neach-aithris] Machair Lìonacleit, far am bi fèis ùr as t-samhradh. Thathar ag amas air fèis beagan eadar-dhealaichte bhon fheadhainn eile a tha stèidhichte mar-thà anns na h-eileanan agus air a’ Ghàidhealtachd.

[Ruairaidh MacAoidh] Tha sinn a’ toirt còmhla ceòl traidiseanta agus ceòl caran mainstream can. Tha sinn a’ dol o Na Balaich Bhatarsaigh, a tha còrdadh ris a h-uile duine co-dhiù ach aig a’ cheann eile tha còmhlan againn The Tailormade. Bha iad sin shìos aig na Brit Awards agus fhuair iad Brit Award airson nam buskers as fheàrr ann an Lunnainn.

[Shona NicDhòmhnaill – Neach-aithris] A bharrachd air còmhlain-ciùil air an oidhche, bidh cur-seachadan ann airson clann agus teaghlaichean air feadh an latha.

[Danielle Nic Gille Bhraith] Air Disathairne tha bouncy castles ann ‘s tha an cladach faisg ‘s tha mi smaointinn gu bheil tòrr, face paints no geamannan, rudan mar sin airson clann bheag ach an seo bidh iad uile còmhla, bidh iad uile a’ cluich ‘s bidh mamaidhean eile ann ‘s bidh granaidhean agus papas. Caran, latha math airson an teaghlaich.

[Shona NicDhòmhnaill – Neach-aithris] ‘S ann air an deireadh-sheachdain mu dheireadh dhen Iuchar a bhios an fhèis. Tha mu 800 tiocaid air an reic mar-thà, a’ chuid mhòr dhiubh sin le daoine o thaobh a-muigh an eilein.

[Iain Moireasdan] O chionn bliadhnaichean an seo ‘s e An Cèitean ‘s An t-Ògmhios as trainge dhuinn agus ‘s ann a tha gnothaichean a’ teannadh a slacadh dheth san Iuchar. So nì sinn toileachadh mòr ris san Iuchar. Chanainn gun toireadh e togail math dhan ghnothach.

[Shona NicDhòmhnaill – Neach-aithris] ‘S e Stòras Uibhist a’ chiad bhuidheann a tha air taic-airgid a thoirt dhan fhèis ùir.

[Clair NicNèill] Tha e follaiseach gun toir an fhèis iomadh rud dhan àite agus gu h-àraidh dhan eaconamaidh, ‘s bha sinn a’ smaointinn mar a tha sinne aig Stòras Uibhist, nan tigeadh sinne a-staigh an toiseach gun leanadh an fheadhainn nas motha sinn agus gum faiceadh iad gu robh sinne a’ cur tacsa ris a’ phròiseact.

[Shona NicDhòmhnaill – Neach-aithris] Tha na stiùirichean air an fhèis ullachadh airson agus nach cuir droch aimsir, ma thachras e, bacadh air gnothaichean.

[Ruaraidh MacAoidh] Tha e am broinn teanta co-dhiù. ‘S mar sin ma tha an dìle uisge ann agus dh’ fhaodadh sin a bhith ann, cha dèan e diofar sam bith. Bidh a h-uile duine tioram, bidh a h-uile duine blàth agus bidh a h-uile duine dìreach, bidh e a’ còrdadh ris a h-uile duine.

[Shona NicDhòmhnaill – Neach-aithris] Shona NicDhòmhnaill, BBC An Là, ann am Beinn na Fadhla.

New music festival in Benbecula

[Iain MacInnes – Presenter] Now, Uist’s population could increase by a quarter over two days, when the Eilean Dorcha Festival takes place in July. It’s a new festival which will be held on Benbecula and it will be suitable for all ages. It is hoped that it will give business people a boost and that the weather won’t hinder proceedings. Shona MacDonald reports.

[Shona MacDonald – Reporter] Liniclate machair, where a new festival will be taking place in summer. It aims to be a little different to those already held on the islands and Highlands.

[Roddy MacKay] We’re bringing together both traditional music and music that’s a little bit more mainstream. We go from The Vatersay Boys, who everybody enjoys anyway to a band called The Tailormade. They were at the Brit Awards where they won an award for the best buskers in London.

[Shona MacDonald – Reporter] In addition to the bands playing in the evening, there will be events for children and families throughout the day.

[Danielle McGillivray] On the Saturday there will be bouncy castles and the beach is nearby. I think for small children there will be lots of things like face painting and games and such like. Everyone will get a chance be together and play together, mothers and grannies and papas. It will be a good family day out.

[Shona MacDonald – Reporter] The festival will take place the last weekend of July. 800 tickets have been sold already, most to people outwith the island.

[Iain Morrison] For years here May and June have been our busiest months and then it slows down in July. So we will be very happy to see it busy in July. I think it will be a huge boost to the place.

[Shona MacDonald – Reporter] Stòras Uibhist are the first group to provide financial support to the festival.

[Clair MacNeil] It’s clear that the festival will bring many things the area and especially to the economy and we thought that we, as Stòras Uibhist, would come in and offer support and that the bigger groups would follow once they saw that we were supporting the project.

[Shona MacDonald – Reporter] The directors have organised the festival in such a way that if there is to be bad weather, it won’t hinder proceedings.

[Roddy MacKay] It’s taking place in a tent anyway. Therefore if it’s pouring rain, which it may well be, it won’t make much difference. Everyone will stay dry, everybody will be warm and everyone will enjoy it.

[Shona MacDonald – Reporter] Shona MacDonald, BBC An Là in Benbecula.
