Tidsearan a dhìth aig Sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu

[Iain MacAonghais - Preseantair] Nise, ‘s e a’ chiad latha sa sgoil a bh’ ann an-diugh airson faisg air ceud sgoilear aig Sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu. Le còrr is seachd-ceud duine-cloinne a-nis a’ frithealadh na sgoile, bho aois trì gu ochd bliadhn’ deug, tha barrachd thidsearan a dhìth agus tha e air faileachadh orra feadhainn ùra fhastadh. Chaidh Caitriana Deeprose air ais dhan sgoil an-diugh cuideachd.

[Caitriana Deeprose – Neach aithris] A’ chiad latha air prìomh a seachd airson na sgoilearan seo aig Sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu. Tha tòrr air atharrachadh bhon a thoisich iadsan sa sgoil le còrr is seachd-ceud a-nis a’ dol innte. Ach tha e air faileachadh air a’ chomhairle na tidsearan a tha dhìth fhastadh.

[Donalda NicComb] Tha na tidsearan gu math gann am-bliadhna airson adhbhar air choreigin. Tha sinn a’ cluinntinn gu bheil an stòiridh gu math diofraichte son an ath-bhliadhna ach aig an ìre seo, tha sinne fhathast thidsear sìos anns a’ bhun-sgoil. Agus ged a chaidh sanas a-mach anns an Ògmhios, cha robh sinn soirbheachail a thaobh daoine agus tha sinn an dòchas ma thig sanas a-mach a-rithist g’ eil cuideigin ann, ‘s dòcha, a tha a’ gluasad à, ‘s dòcha àiteigin, ‘s tha iad ag iarraidh rudeigin ùr fheuchainn. ‘S cuideachd san àrd-sgoil, tha na h-àireamhan air àrdachadh a-rithist, bidh sinn a’ feuchainn ri tidsearan ùra a thàladh san àrdsgoil.

[Caitriana Deeprose – Neach aithris] Is bidh barrachd sheòmraichean a dhìth san àm ri teachd.

[Donalda NicComb] Tha sinn a’ dèanamh an gnothach dìreach am-bliadhna. Ach, feumar planaichean a dhèanamh airson na h-ath-bhliadhn’. Agus, mar a tha fhios agad, anns an togalach a tha seo, tha aon ùrlar falamh fhathast, agus tha ‘s dòcha letheach dheth, fhathast nach eil air an sgeadachadh. Tha dòighean air rudan a dhèanamh airson sin a leudachadh, ach chì sinn thachras.

[Caitriana Deeprose – Neach aithris] Tha obair air tòiseachadh a-nis air bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig eile ann am Pollokshields, is dùil gum fosgail sin an ceann bhliadhna.

[Jim Whanel] Tha cothroman airson daoine a tha fileanta sa chànan obair fhaighinn ann an Glaschu ann am foghlam tro Ghàidhlig, a chionn gu bheil na h-àireamhan a’ dol suas agus tha sinn a’ sùileachadh gum bi sin a’ tachairt bliadhna as dèidh bliadhna agus mar sin, tha sinn a’ fosgladh na darna sgoil.

Teachers are needed at Glasgow Gaelic School

[Iain MacInnes - Presenter] Now, it’s the first day of school for nearly one hundred pupils at Glasgow Gaelic School. With more than seven hundred children going to the school, from the age of three to eighteen years old, more teachers are needed and they are failing to attract new ones. Caitriana Deeprose went back to school today too.

[Caitriana Deeprose – Reporter] The first day of primary seven for these pupils at Glasgow Gaelic School. Much has changed since they started with more than seven hundred going there. But the council have failed to attract the teachers they need.

[Donalda McComb] The teachers are very scarce this year for some reason. We hear that the story is very different for the next year, but at this stage, we are still two teachers down in the primary school. And although an advert went out in June, we were not successful with people and we hope that if the advert goes out again that someone, maybe wants to move, maybe, from somewhere and they want to try something new.

[Caitriana Deeprose – Reporter] And there will be fewer rooms in the future.

[Donalda McComb] We are just doing the business this year. But, plans must be made for the next year. And, as you know, in this building, there is one empty floor and maybe half of it that is still to be decorated. There are ways to do things to develop that and we will see what happens.

[Caitriana Deeprose – Reporter] Work has begun on another Gaelic school in Pollokshields and it is expected to open in two years.

[Jim Whanel] There are opportunities for people who are fluent in the language to get a job in Glasgow in education through Gaelic, as the numbers are increasing and we anticipate that this will happen year after year and as such, we are opening the second school.

[Caitriana Deeprose – Reporter] Caitriana Deeprose, BBC An Là, Glasgow.
