DIY le Donnie - A' leasachadh geata

Gaelic Gàidhlig

[Donnie] Mar as trice bidh duilgheadas aig daoine geataichean mar seo a dhùnadh. Às dèidh ùine bidh an geata a' tuiteam 's cha bhi am bolta a' dol dhan toll ach tha beachd agamsa seo a chur ceart le fiodh mar seo.

[Donnie] Le dà phìos fiodha taobh ri taobh bidh beàrn ann dhan bholta ge bith dè cho trom 's a tha an geata.

[Donnie] Cha robh siud duilich. Tha beachd eile agam ge-tà.

[Donnie] Bidh a' cailleach an-còmhnaidh a' gearain mu dheidhinn a' phìos ròpa robach a tha seo airson an geata a chumail fosgailte, gu h-àraidh anns a' gheamhradh nuair a tha e fliuch fuar. Tha mise a' dol a chur rudeigin nas fhasa air dòigh.

[Donnie] Le bhith a' cleachdadh post fiodha làidir 's urrainn dhuinn glas cheart a chur air.

[Donnie] Leis an drile nì mi toll caol far an lean am bolta.

[Donnie] Tha mi a' cur nan sgriuthaichean an sàs agus gan toirt às an toiseach gus am bi e nas fhasa an cur ann a-rithist 's a’ ghlas na h-àite.

[Donnie] Sin e.

[Donnie] Glè mhath. Cha leig i a leas seo a chleachdadh gu bràth tuilleadh.

Chaidh am prògram seo, DIY Le Donnie, a chraoladh an toiseach ann an 2014. Le taing do BBC Gàidhlig.

DIY le Donnie - Improving the gate

English Beurla

[Donnie] Usually people have difficulty closing gates like this. After time the gate drops and the bolt will not go into the hole but I have an idea to fix this with wood like this.

[Donnie] With two pieces of wood side by side there will be a gap for the bolt regardless of how heavy the gate is.

[Donnie] That was not difficult. I have another idea though.

[Donnie] The old woman is always complaining about this tatty piece of rope for keeping the gate open, especially in the winter when it is wet and cold. I am going to create something easier.

[Donnie] By using a strong post of wood we can put a proper lock on it.

[Donnie] With the drill I will make a narrow hole for the bolt to follow.

[Donnie] I am putting the screws in place and taking them out first so that it will be easier to put them in again with the lock in place.

[Donnie] That is it.

[Donnie] Very good. She will never need to use this again.
