Margaret's hobby

[Donald Morrison] Dr Margaret MacKinnon, music expert, singer, linguistics expert, Mod judge, someoneone who has taught various people for the Gold Medal at the Mod and one who brought Gaelic culture to the heart of England where she lived for most of her life. Margaret, welcome.

[Dr Margaret MacKinnon] Thanks, Donald.

[Donald Morrison] Anyone who has visited the Mods for years, they’ll know you, they’ll know the work that you do with that. I’ll bet that there are plenty of them that don’t know that you play poker.

[Dr Margaret MacKinnon] Oh, I play poker almost every year, well, two or three times a year. I go to Las Vegas when I teach in the States in Los Angeles and in San Diego, they are close to Las Vegas, I go and play poker.

[Donald Morrison] And do you make money with poker?

[Dr Margaret MacKinnon] Oh certainly, yes. I’m awfully good at poker as it is bluffing and I am good at that.

[Donald Morrison] And is there a livelihood to be made from that? A livelihood to be made from that?

[Dr Margaret MacKinnon] Well, I believe that I have not paid for a hotel in the States at all as I have got money from poker to pay for that.

[Donald Morrison] Really?

[Dr Margaret MacKinnon] Mmmm-hmmm

[Donald Morrison] Well, well.

[Dr Margaret MacKinnon] Amn’t I clever?

[Donald Morrison] Well, that’s the poker. It’s a hobby in spite of it paying for hotels, poker is a hobby.
