Goireasan ùr aig an Stòr

[Mairi Rodgers – Preseantair] Gheibh muinntir cheann a tuath an Eilein Sgitheanaich cothrom a-màireach sùil a thoirt air planaichean gus goireasan a leasachadh aig làrach an Stòir. Tha Urras an Taobh Sear an dùil tuilleadh ghoireasan leithid parcadh agus taighean-beaga a thogail aig an làraich. Tha an Stòr air a mheas mar fhear dhe na seallaidhean turasachd as trainge san eilean agus an àireamh de luchd-turais a’ sìor dol am meud. Seo Calum MacIlleathain.

[Calum MacIlleathain – Neach-aithris] Tha glè bheag de luchd-turais a’ tadhal air an Stòr an-diugh. Ach chan eil cùisean cho socair as t-samhradh. Bidh an t-àite a’ cur thairis le diofar sheòrsa charbadan agus na mìltean a’ tighinn ann. Ach ’s gann a tha na goireasan a tha ann dhaibh. Tha Urras an Taobh Sear air a bhith a’ rannsachadh phlanaichean airson làrach ri taobh an raon-parcaidh airson trì bliadhna a-nise.

[Dòmhnall Dòmhnallach] Thàinig prìomhachasan a-mach bho na daoine ris an robh sinn a’ bruidhinn mu dheidhinn nan rudan a bha iad ag iarraidh fhaicinn aig an Stòr. Agus tha rud gu sònraichte ann a bha iad airson a bhith cinnteach a dheigheadh a chur ann. ‘S e sin àitichean airson càraichean, barrachd àitichean far am b’ urrainn dhuinn càraichean a chur agus iad a bhith air falbh bhon rathad agus cuideachd gum biodh taighean-beaga ann airson daoine a bha a’ dol chun na Stòr.

[Calum MacIlleathain – Neach-aithris] Tha an cruth-tìre ainmeil air nochdadh ann an filmichean agus telebhisean. Le camara an-diugh aig cha mhòr gach neach, is tric gu bheil na creagan ainmeil seo rim faicinn air na meadhanan sòisealta cuideachd. Tha na h-àireamhan a tha a’ tighinn ann a’ fàs gach bliadhna.

[Calum MacIlleathain – Neach-aithris] Chan eil coltas ann gun tig crìonadh anns an àireamh de luchd-turais a tha a’ tighinn dhan eilean gach bliadhna. Agus mar sin, tha Urras an Taobh Sear an dòchas am planaichean a ghluasad air adhart gu sgiobalta.

[Dòmhnall Dòmhnallach] Ma gheibh sinne cead bhon choimhearsnachd a dhol air adhart leis na planaichean a tha sinn a’ cur mun coinneamh a-màireach, bhiodh sinn an dòchas gun dèanamaid an gnothach an uair sin air seo a chur mu choinneamh na Comhairle fhèin. Agus co-dhùnadh fhaighinn ro dheireadh a’ Mhàirt airson a dhol air adhart agus obair a thòiseachadh air an làraich seo uaireigin an ath-bhliadhna ’s gum biodh e fosgailte a’ bhliadhna às dèidh sin.

[Calum MacIlleathain – Neach-aithris] Bidh na planaichean airson na làraich rim faicinn aig oifis Urrais an Taobh Sear, ri taobh Eaglais na h-Alba an Stafainn eadar deich agus uair feasgar Disathairne. Calum MacIlleathain, BBC An Là, An Stòr.

New facilities at the Stòr

[Màiri Rodgers – Presenter] Locals people of the north end of the Isle of Skye will get an opportunity tomorrow to cast their eye over plans to develop facilities on the site of the Storr. The Staffin Community Trust hope to build more facilities such as parking and toilet at the location. The Storr is considered one of the busiest tourist views on the island and the number of tourists keeps increasing. Here’s Calum MacLean.

[Calum MacLean – Reporter] Few tourists are visiting the Storr today. But things aren’t so quiet in summer. The place is heaving with different types of vehicle as thousands visit. But the facilities available are limited. Staffin Community Trust have been looking into plans for the site next to the car park for three years now.

[Donald MacDonald] Priorities were stated by those we spoke to about the things they would like to see at the Storr. There are two things in particular they wanted to see. That was areas for cars, more car parking spaces where they could put cars and they would be away from the road, and also toilet facilities for people going to the Storr.

[Calum MacLean – Reporter] The famous landscape has appeared in films and on television. With almost everybody having a camera these days, the famous rocks are often seen on social media as well. The number of people coming here grows each year.

[Calum MacLean – Reporter] It’s unlikely that the number of tourists who visit the island each year will decline. And therefore, Staffin Community Trust hope to accelerate their plans.

[Donald MacDonald] If we get permission from the community to go ahead with the plans we’re presenting to them tomorrow, we would hope to then be able to put to the Council itself. And reach a decision before the end of March in order to move forward and begin the work on site sometime next year, for it to be open the following year.

[Calum MacLean – Reporter] The plans for the site can be seen at the Staffin Community Trust office, beside the Church of Scotland in Staffin between 10am and 1pm on Saturday afternoon. Calum MacLean, BBC An Là, the Storr.
