Mèinn Thaigh an Droma a’ fosgladh

[Angela NicIlleathain – Preseantair] Dh'fhosgail a' chompanaidh Scotgold ionad giullachd òir faisg air Taigh an Droma gu h-oifigeil an-diugh. Tòisichidh iad a’ mèinneadh òir sna beanntan os cionn a' bhaile, thòisich iad ann an 2012. 'S e deuchainn a bhios san ionad seo a mhaireas 6 mìosan. Ach tha a' chompanaidh an dòchas òr luach £200m a thoirt às na creagan aig a' cheann thall. Seo Andreas Wolff.

[Andreas Wolff – Neach-aithris] Tha mèinnean air a bhith sna beanntan faisg air Taigh an Droma ann an Siorrachd Sruighlea bho chionn timcheall air 600 bliadhna. San t-seachdamh linn deug mar eisimpleir bha mèinn luaidh aca. Ach ann an 2012 thòisich a’ chompanaidh Scotgold obair air mèinn òir.

[Am Brig Iain MacPhàrlain] Tha daoine air a bhith tighinn an seo tro na bliadhnaichean, ma dh’fhaodhte 500 bliadhna, 600 bliadhna, tha iad air a bhith a’ tighinn a-staigh chun mhonaidh an seo. Agus tha iad a’ dol a-mach le amar, seòrsa de dh’ amar agus tha iad a’ cur sprùilleach à làrach na h-aibhne a-staigh san amar seo agus ga chrathadh mar sin agus tha an sprùilleach a’ tuiteam air falbh agus ma tha criomagan de dh’òr ann no mèinn ann tha sin a’ fuireach anns an amar agus tha iad a’ faotainn grèim air mar sin. Agus ‘s e a cheart rud a tha iad a’ feuchainn an seo.

[Andreas Wolff – Neach-aithris] Tha a’ chompanaidh Astràilianach am beachd 200,000 unnsa de dh'òr’ a thoirt a-mach às a’ mhèinn agus bhiodh luach £200,000,000 ann san latha a th’ann.

[Ridseard Gray] Our resources runs at 14.3 grams a tonne which is extremely high by gold mining standards. Now many mines are operating at less than 2 grams a tonne so 14 grams a tonne is envious, an enviable position to be in. So we’ve got high grade, we’ve got low costs.

[Andreas Wolff – Neach-aithris] Tha iad an-dràsta a’ dèanamh deuchainn dhen phròiseas giullachd a mhaireas sia mìosan. ‘S coltas gu bheil prìs an òir air fàs beagan nas fheàrr cuideachd, rud a bheir toileachas do luchd nan earrannan.

[Am Brig Iain MacPhàrlain] Tha mòran de dh' earrannan agam bhon bha dhà no thrì cheud not agam aig uair agus dìreach chur mi staigh ann dìreach son spòrs a dhèanamh agus bha a’ phrìs aig an àm sin 0.3 sgillinn agus fhuarar iad mòran de dh' earrannan airson an airgid sin.

[Andreas Wolff – Neach-aithris] Tha a’ mhèinn suidhichte ann am Pàirce Nàiseanta Loch Laomainn agus nan Trosaichean. Ach thàinig iad gu aonta a thaobh tha dhìth gus an àrainneachd a dhìon. Le sin tha Scotgold an dòchas nach fhada gus an tèid a’ chiad òr Albannach a riamh a reic aig ìre coimearsalta. Andreas Wolff, BBC An Là, Taigh an Droma.

Tyndrum gold mine opens

[Angela MacLean – Presenter] The company Scotgold officially opened a gold treatment plant near Tyndrum today. They will begin to extract gold from the hills above the village, they began in 2012. This facility will be a trial which will last six months. But the company hope to extract £200,000,000 from the rocks in the long run. Here’s Andreas Wolff.

[Andreas Wolff – Reporter] There have been mines in the hills near Tyndrum in Stirlingshire for around 600 years. In the 17th Century for example there was a lead mine. But in 2012 the company Scotgold began work on a gold mine.

[Brig Iain MacFarlane] People have been coming here over the years, for perhaps 500, 600 years they’ve been coming to the hills here. They go out with a basin, a type of basin, and they put debris from the riverbed in it, shake it and the debris then falls away and if there are pieces of gold or ore, that stays in the basin and that’s how they retrieve it. And it’s the same thing they are attempting here.

[Andreas Wolff – Reporter] The Australian company hope to extract 200,000 ounces of gold from the mine, which would be worth £200,000,000 nowadays.

[Richard Gray] Our resources runs at 14.3 grams a tonne which is extremely high by gold mining standards. Now many mines are operating at less than 2 grams a tonne so 14 grams a tonne is an enviable position to be in. So we’ve got high grade, we’ve got low costs.

[Andreas Wolff – Reporter] They are now running a trial of the treatment process which will last six months. It seems the price of gold has risen a little too, something which will please shareholders.

[Brig Iain MacFarlane] I have a lot of shares. I had £200 - £300 hundred pounds at one time and I just put it in, just for a bit of fun, and the price at the time was 0.3 pence and I got a lot of shares for that price.

[Andreas Wolff – Reporter] The mine is located in Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. But they came to agreement on what is required in order to protect the environment. Therefore, Scotgold hope it won’t be long until the first Scottish gold is sold commercially. Andreas Wolff, BBC An Là, Tyndrum.
