Sgioba Camanachd an Eilean Sgitheanaich

[Ailean MacLeòid – Preseantair] Agus mu dheireadh a-nochd. Cluichidh Sgioba Chamanachd an Eilean Sgitheanaich ann am prìomh lìog na camanachd airson a’ chiad uair airson còrr is 15 bliadhna nuair a thòisicheas seusan na h-iomain Disathairne. Bha Aonghas Dòmhnallach na chluicheadair san sgioba an turas mu dheireadh a chaidh iad suas chun a’ phrìomh lìog agus tha e a-nis mar phàirt dhen sgioba mhanaidsearachd. Fhuair Kerr Gibb facal air Disathairne mun dùbhlan a th’ air thoiseach orra.

[Kerr Gibb – Neach-aithris] Latha brèagha geamhraidh aig Pàirc nan Laoch, Port Rìgh. Tha sgioba camanachd an eilein air a dhol bhliadhna gun ghèam a chall anns an lìog. Ach, chan eil teagamh sam bith aca gu bheil dùbhlan gu tur eadar-dhealaichte romhpa am-bliadhna, anns a’ phrìomh lìog.

[Aonghas Dòmhnallach] Tha mi smaoineachadh gur e an t-amas as motha bhios againn ‘s e dìreach cumail, beagan adhartas a dhèanamh san iomain agus leis an sgioba fhèin. Tha fhios againn uile gum bi e gu math doirbh, ‘s e lìog gu math doirbh a bhios ann dhuinne as dèidh dhuinn, fhios agad, air a bhith cluich sgiobannan gu math nas, fiù’s na darna sgiobannan aig na sgiobannan tha seo.

[Kerr Gibb – Neach-aithris] Chuir mi ri Aonghas gur e dùbhlan a bharrachd a bhios ann an dèidh bhliadhna cho soirbheachail a bhith a’ fàs cleachdte ri bhith tric a’ call.

[Aonghas Dòmhnallach] ‘S e dìreach an inntinn agus an sunnd a chumail suas. Tha mi smaoineachadh nan rachadh againn fuireach shuas san lìog tha seo son ‘s dòcha dhà no thrì bhliadhnaichean, an uair sin b’ urrainn dhuinn an ath cheum a thoirt agus fhios agad, feuchainn air an ath leth dhen lìog. Ach tha mi smaoineachadh, sgioba sam bith a tha a’ dol suas dhan aphrìomh lìog, ‘s e an t-amas fuireach shuas son a’ chiad dhà no thrì bhliadhnaichean agus tha mi smaoineachadh, tha sinne dìreach san aon ìre ri sin.

[Kerr Gibb – Neach-aithris] Chan eil sgioba an eilein ma-thà air am mealladh gun cuir iad am fraoch na theine aig mullach na prìomh lìog. ‘S e an t-amas tuilleadh adhartas a dhèanamh, cothrom a thoirt ri cluicheadairean òga agus a bhith bruidhinn mu seusan eile sa phrìomh lìog mun àm sa an ath-bhliadhna.

Skye Camanachd

[Allan MacLeod – Presenter] And finally this evening. Skye Camanachd will play in the Premiership for the first time in over 15 years, when the shinty season begins on Saturday. Angus MacDonald played for the team the last time they were promoted to the Premiership and he is now a part of the management team. Kerr Gibb got a word with him on Saturday about the challenge they face.

[Kerr Gibb – Reporter] A lovely winter’s day at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree. The island’s shinty team have gone two years undefeated in the league. But, there’s no doubt that a completely different challenge awaits them this year, in the Premiership.

[Angus MacDonald] I think our main aim will be to keep on making progress in the game and within the team itself. We all know it’s going to be very tough, it’s going to be a hard league for us after playing smaller teams and even their second teams.

[Kerr Gibb – Reporter] I put it to Angus that the challenge will be extra difficult, after two successful years, getting used to often losing.

[Angus MacDonald] It’s just keeping the mind and spirits up. I think if we manage to stay in this league for perhaps two or three years we could then take the next step and you know, attempt to get into the upper half of the league. But I think the aim for any team being promoted into the Premiership is to stay there for the first two or three years and I think that we’re at that same level.

[Kerr Gibb – Reporter] The island team then are not misled in thinking that they will set the heather alight at the top of the Premiership. The aim is to make further progress, to give the younger players a chance and to be speaking about another season in the premiership this time next year.
