Taigh-tasgaidh ùr Chaisteil Leòdhais

[Iain MacIlleathain – Preseantair] Chun an dàrna togalach againn dhan oidhche nochd, chan eil am fear sa air fosgladh fhathast ge-tà ach tha fhios againn a-nis gur ann as t-Earrach an ath-bhliadhna a dh'fhosglas e , sin taigh-tasgaidh ùr Chaisteil Leòdhais. A thuilleadh air cuid de dh' Fhir-tàileisg an Eilein, bidh nithean eile ann bho thaighean-tasgaidh eile. Chaidh ainmeachadh cuideachd gur i Seònaid NicDhòmhnaill an tasglannaiche a bhios anns an taigh-tasgaidh. Fhuair Ruaraidh Rothach sùil air na chaidh a dhèanamh bho chionn ghoirid.

[Ruaraidh Rothach – Neach -aithris] Tha an obair ullachaidh mu dheireadh a’ dol aig Museum nan Eilean. Tha dùil gum bi fir-tàileisg Leòdhais ann an seo as t-Earrach ach mus tig iad feumar a bhith cinnteach gu bheil an àrainneachd ceart airson an cumail. Tha seo a’ toirt ùine ach thathar riatanach nuair a thathar a’ làimhseachadh nithean prìseil, luachmhor.

[Joe Mac a’ Phì] Tha sin a’ meas as t-Earrach, aon uair ‘s gu faigh sinn na Fir-tàileisg, Fir-tàileisg Leòdhais air an cur nan àite. Agus bidh dhà no trì de rudan uabhasach inntinneach eile againn o thaigh-tasgaidh Nàiseanta na h-Alba, bidh iad sin againn cuideachd ‘s chan fhaod mi innse, fhios agad’ na rudan a th’ ann, bidh iad rim faicinn. Agus tha sinn an dòchas gum bi iad sin againn toiseach na bliadhna agus an uair sin gum faigh sinn air a h-uile sgath a bhith deiseil as t-Earrach. Mar sin ‘s e sin an amas a tha againn an-dràsta. Beagan nas fhaide na bha dùil ach tha e cho cudromach dhuinn gu bheil a h-uile sgath na àite ‘s gu bheil a h-uile sgath ag obair mar a tha còir aige.

[Ruaraidh Rothach – Neach -aithris] Chan e a-mhàin gu bheil nithean inntinneach gu bhith ri fhaicinn san taigh-tasgaidh agus an tasglann ùr. Bidh guth muinntir an àite agus dualchas an àite mar phàirt chudromach cuideachd.

[Joe Mac a’ Phì] Tha sinn an-dràsta aig oisean a’ ghailearaidh far a bheil na sgrions ‘s tha iad a’ dol a dh’ fhaighinn 3D films is rudan agus an fheadhainn a chunnaic sinn chun an seo tha e mìorbhaileach. Agus an uair sin tha thu a’ dol a-staigh a ghailearaidh eile agus gheibh thu seòrsa do dh’fhèin fhiosrachadh agus cluinnidh tu guthan dhaoine, muinntir nan eilean agus blas dhen eilean agus blas dhen chànan agus blas dhen chultar, blas dhen dualchas ‘s tha sinn an dòchas ma thig duine staigh gun tig iad a-mach ‘s gun tig iad air ais a-staigh uaireigin eile ‘s gun aithnich iad ‘s gu fiosraich iad, fhios agad, rudeigin ùr agus rudeigin a tha air leth cudromach dha na h-eileanan air fad. Chan ann dìreach do Steòrnabhagh ach do na h-eileanan air fad.

The new Lews Castle Museum

[Iain MacLean – Presenter] To the second of this evening’s buildings. This one hasn’t yet opened though, but we now know that it will open in spring next year, that’s the new Lews Castle Museum. In addition to some of the island’s Chessmen, there will be other artefacts from other museums. Also, Janet MacDonald was named as the museum’s archivist. Roddy Munro has taken a look at what’s been done recently.

[Roddy Munro – Reporter] The last of the preparation work is taking place at Museum nan Eilean. It is expected that the Lewis Chessmen will be here in spring but before they arrive they have ensure that the environment in which they will be held is suitable. This takes time but it’s crucial when handling precious, valuable objects.

[Joe MacPhee] We reckon in spring, once we get the Chessmen, the Lews Chessmen, in place. And we will have one or two other extremely interesting things from the National Museum of Scotland, I can’t reveal what they are, but they will be on display. We hope to have these at the start of the year and that we will then have everything ready in the Spring. That is therefore our aim for now. A little later than hoped but it’s so important to us that everything is in place and working as it should.

[Roddy Munro – Reporter] Not only will there be interesting artefacts in the museum and new archive, the voice of the community and the heritage of the area will play an important part too.

[Joe MacPhee] We are now at the corner of the gallery where the screens are and they are going to get 3D films and such, and the ones we’ve seen up until now have been fantastic. You then continue into another gallery where you will get an interactive experience and hear voices of island folk, getting a taste of the island, the language, the culture and the heritage and we hope that if people come in, when they leave they’ll want to come back in another time and that they will identify with and learn something new and something that is of great importance to all the islands. Not only to Stornoway but to the islands as a whole.

[Roddy Munro – Reporter] Roddy Munro, BBC An Là, Lews Castle.
