Com-pàirteachais a’ Ghambia

[Iain MacIlleathain – Preseantair] Tha buidheann charthannas ann an Steòrnabhagh a bhios a’ cuideachadh le foghlam anns a’ Ghambia air bùth eadar-amail fhosgladh anns a’ bhaile. Tha com-pàirteachais a’ Ghambia an-dràsta ag obair air sgoil ùr a thogail anns an dùthaich do chlann gun dòigh eile air foghlam fhaighinn. Tha a’ bhuidheann Chrìosdaidh a’ cur daoine null ann airson cuideachadh a h-uile bliadhna. Tha Aonghas Dòmhnallach a-nis ag aithris.

[Aonghas Dòmhnallach – Neach-aithris] Tha a’ bhùth a’ coimhead airson càil sam bith a bheir a-steach airgead a chuidicheas leis an obair a tha an com-pàirteachas a’ dèanamh sa Ghaimbia. Tha an obair air a bhith a’ dol 10 bliadhna a-nise agus tha iad a’ coimhead gu bheil foghlam gu h-àraidh deatamach.

[Iain MacÌomhair] Tha iad air tòiseachadh air sgoil thall an sin agus a’ chiad phàirt den sgoil tha i an ìre mhath a-nis crìochnaichte ach tha pàirtean eile fhathast nach eil iad air tòiseachadh agus bidh feum againn air tuilleadh taic airgid airson tòiseachadh air a’ phàirt a tha gun a dhèanamh fhathast.

[Aonghas Dòmhnallach – Neach-aithris] Tha an com-pàirteachas airson craobh-sgaoileadh an t-soisgeil fhad ‘s a tha iad a’ cuideachadh òigridh, gu h-àraidh airson foghlam fhaighinn. Agus ann an tòrr de dhùthchannan Afraga, an Gambia nam measg, feumar pàigheadh airson foghlam.

[Iain MacÌomhair] Tha timcheall air 30 duine aca uile gu lèir dhen chloinn sin nach b’ urrainn a bhith ann an sgoil bhon chan urrainn dha na pàrantan aca giùlain cosgais airson an cur dhan sgoil agus mar sin dheth, mura biodh cuideachadh aca ga fhaighinn bho a-muigh, cha b’ urrainn dhaibh foghlam a bhith aca.

[Aonghas Dòmhnallach – Neach-aithris] Tha sgiobaidhean cuideachail eile a’ dol a-null a dh’ aithghearr agus tha obair fhèin gu bhith aig a h-uile ball dhen sgioba.

[Iain MacÌomhair] Bidh cuid de na tha dol a-mach, de na fir, bidh iad ag obair a’ peantadh agus a’ dèanamh nithean eile airson an sgoil ullachadh airson fosgladh. Tha grunn bhoireannaich a’ dol a-null agus tha planaichean ann airson cuideachadh le na boireannaich thall an sin, toirt dhaibh sgilean airson fuaigheal no iomadach eile ‘s dòcha nach eil iad ro ealanta an-dràsta.

[Aonghas Dòmhnallach – Neach-aithris] Thèid glè bheag de dh’airgead na dùthcha air slighe gu math ann a bhith a’ cuideachadh òganaich a’ Ghaimbia. Aonghas Dòmhnallach, BBC An ann an Steòrnabhagh.

The Gambia Partnership

[Iain Maclean – Presenter] A charitable organisation in Stornoway that help with education in the Gambia has opened a temporary shop in the town. The Gambia Partnership is currently working on building a new school in the country for children who have no other way of getting an education. The Christian group sends people over each year to help. Angus MacDonald reports.

[Angus MacDonald – Reporter] The shop is looking for anything to bring in money to help with the work the partnership is doing in the Gambia. The work has been ongoing for 10 years now and they see education as particularly crucial.

[Iain MacIver] They’ve started to build a school over there and the first section of it is almost finished but there are other parts that they are yet to start. They will require more funding to begin building the section that’s not been done yet.

[Angus MacDonald – Reporter] The partnership wants to spread the gospel whilst helping young people, particularly to get an education. And in lots of African countries, the Gambia included, you have to pay for education.

[Iain MacIver] There are around 30 children altogether who wouldn’t be in school otherwise as their parents cannot afford it. Therefore, without the support from an outside organisation, they wouldn’t be able to get an education.

[Angus MacDonald – Reporter] More support groups are heading over soon and each member of the team will have their own specific jobs.

[Iain MacIver] Some of the men who go out, they work on painting and such things to get the school ready for opening. A number of women are going over and they have plans to help the women there, providing them with skills such as sewing, among other things, in which they currently may not be very skilled.

[Angus MacDonald – Reporter] The little money that the country has will go a long way in helping the young people of the Gambia. (chan eil seo a’ dèanamh ciall?) Angus MacDonald, BBC An Là in Stornoway.
