Fèis Bhlas 2015

[Iain MacIlleathain – Preseantair] Thathas air barrachd thiogaidean a reic air-loidhne airson cuirmean Blas na bliadhna-sa na riamh roimhe. Tha sin a rèir cheannard Fèisean nan Gàidheal, a th’ air cùlaibh an tachartais. Thòisich Blas aig deireadh na seachdain-sa chaidh agus mar phàirt dheth, tha cuirmean gan cumail air feadh na Gàidhealtachd agus Earra-Ghàidheal, mar a tha Eilidh NicAsgaill a-nis ag aithris.

[Eilidh NicAsgaill - Neach-aithris] Anna Latharna NicIllÌosa, a’ seinn ann an Cathair-Eaglais Inbhir Nis mar phàirt de chuirm a bha dèanamh moladh air na chuir i, ri òrain is ceòl is dualchas ach ‘s ann mar sheinneadar Gàidhlig as fhèarr a dh’ aithnichear i.

[Anna Latharna NicIllÌosa] Bha an taigh againne dachaigh bheag, bhlàth, shnog gu math làn de cheòl cuideachd. ‘S e fìdhlear proifeiseanta a bha na mo sheanmhair agus bha ise fuireach còmhla rinn. ‘S e fear-stiùiridh chòmhlan-chiùil ‘orchestra’ mar gu b’ e a bha na mo sheanair agus bha mise cluinntinn sin fad an t-siubhail. ‘S e urram agus tlachd a bh’ann a bhith cluinntinn a h-uile seòrsa de cheòl ach a riamh ‘s e orain Ghàidhlig a bu mhotha a bha còrdadh rium.

[Eilidh NicAsgaill - Neach-aithris] Seo an 11mh bliadhna de Bhlas agus an fhèis stèidhichte air a’ mhodail a thathas a’ cleachdadh ann an Canada airson Celtic Colours, far a bheil cuirmean gan cumail anns na diofar choimhearsnachdan fhèin. Nam measg bha tachartas anns a’ Mhanachainn a bha comharrachadh na buaidh a bh’ aig a’ Chiad Chogadh air sgìrean camanachd na dùthcha. Tha luchd-stiùiridh na fèis air am misneachadh leis an àireamh a thiogaidean a chaidh a reic air-loidhne am-bliadhna.

[Art MacCarmaig] Tha sinn a’ soirbheachadh gu ruige seo. Chan e a h-uile àite a tha loma-làn fad an t-siubhail ach tha na h-àireamhan a tha frithealadh na fèise gu math fallain. Tha fhios agam, an fheadhainn a chaidh a reic air-loidhne ro làimh, gu bheil sinn air reic fada a bharrachd am-bliadhna na reic sinn ann am bliadhna sam bith ron sin.

[Eilidh NicAsgaill - Neach-aithris] Leis na tachartasan a’ ruith gu Disathairne, tha coltas ann gum bi cuirmean de gach seòrsa ri fhaicinn air feadh na Gàidhealtachd agus Earra-Ghàidheil thairis air an t-seachdain tha romhainn. Eilidh NicAsgaill, BBC An Là.

Blas Festival 2015

[Iain Maclean – Presenter] More tickets have been sold online this year for Blas events than ever before. That’s according to the Chief Executive of Fèisean nan Gàidheal, who are behind the event. Blas began at the end of last week as part of it, events are being held across the Highlands and Argyll, as Eilidh MacAskill reports.

[Eilidh MacAskill – Reporter] Anne Lorne Gillies, singing at Inverness Cathedral as part of a concert celebrating her contribution to music and heritage, but she is best known as Gaelic singer.

[Anne Lorne Gillies] Our house – a small, warm, nice house – was full of music. My grandmother was a professional fiddler and she lived with us. My grandfather was an orchestra conductor and I was hearing this all the time. It was an honour and privilege to hearlots of different kinds of music but it I always enjoyed Gaelic songs the most.

[Eilidh MacAskill – Reporter] This is the 11th year of Blas, the festival which is based on the model used in Canada for Celtic Colours, where events are held in different communities. Amongst them, there was an event in Beauly to mark the effect WW1 had on the country’s shinty communities. The festival organisers are encouraged by the amount of tickets sold online this year.

[Arthur Cormack] We are doing well so far. Not everywhere is full each time but the numbers attending the festival this year are very healthy. I know, from the tickets sold online beforehand, that we have sold much more this year than previous years.

[Eilidh MacAskill – Reporter] With the events running until Saturday, there will events of each kind across the Highlands and Argyll in the coming week. Eilidh MacAskill, BBC An Là.
