80 bliadhna de Sgioba Ball-coise nan Lochan

[Calum Dòmhnallach – Preseantair] Thèid leabhar fhoillseachadh Disathairne, a’ comharrachadh 80 bliadhna de sgioba ball-coise nan Lochan. Tha iomadach cluicheadair cliùiteach air a bhith aca thar nam bliadhnaichean sin agus tha an sgioba fhèin air soirbheachadh anns na deich bliadhna mu dheireadh, mar a dh’innseas Aonghas Dòmhnallach.

[Aonghas Dòmhnallach – Neach-aithris] Thòisich sgioba nan Lochan mar iomadach sgioba eile agus iad air am bonntachadh air aon bhaile sa sgìre, ach, cha robh sin fada a’ leudachadh.

[Donnchadh N MacLeòid] Tha dealbhan againn anns an leabhar ann an seo, a tha sealltainn sgiobaidhean nan Lochan can, anns na forties is feadhainn ann à Ceann nan Loch. ‘S an uair sin thòisich feadhainn a’ tighinn a-steach bho Ceann a Deas nan Loch còmhla ri Ceann a Tuath nan Loch ach ‘s ann an Liùrbost a thòisich iad ann an 1934.

[Aonghas Dòmhnallach – Neach-aithris] Agus sìos tro na bliadhnaichean bha cluicheadairean math aca agus feadhainn a chaidh gu àrd ìre sa ghèam.

[Donnchadh N MacLeòid] Bha gu sònraichte bha fear ann, Iain MacGumaraid à Airigh a’ Bhruaich ‘s Baile Ailean agus shoidhnig esan cùmhnant ann an 1950 do Chelsea agus tha inneas againn air anns a’ mhagazine. Cuideachd tha mi creidsinn an cluicheadair a b’ fheàrr a bh’aig nan Lochan a-riamh ‘s e Kenny MacSween à Liùrbost. Shoidhnig esan S form, a bh’ann an uair sin, schoolboy tha mi creidsinn aig Ibrox ach thàinig an cianalas air ‘s thàinig e dhachaigh agus bha e an uair sin a’ cluich do Mhorton agus gu mì-fhortanach bhàsaich e nuair a bha e glè òg.

[Aonghas Dòmhnallach – Neach-aithris] Agus tha sgioba nan Lochan fortanach gu bheil dìleab mhath aca do dh’ fhiosrachadh ‘s do dheilbh a tha a’ cur gu mòr ris a’ bheairteas a tha ri fhaighinn anns an leabhar-sa .

[Donnchadh N MacLeòid] Aon rud eile th’ againn mhiannachainn a ràdh ‘s e tha an t-uabhas dealbhan againn. Tha na ceudan mura h-eil na mìltean againn. Tha aon duine gu sònraichte ri taing thoirt dha airson sin, ‘s e sin Seonaidh ‘Rusty’ Dòmhnallach à Liùrbost. Tha mi creidsinn gu bheil e air 30 bliadhna a thoirt a-nis a’ gabhail dealbhan. Cuideachd tha sinn air a bhith a’ cruinneachadh fiosrachadh mu dheidhinn an sgioba bho 1934.

[Aonghas Dòmhnallach – Neach-aithris] Ach chan e a-mhàin sgioba an latha an-dè a tha seo oir ‘s e sgioba nan Lochan an as làidir a th’ air a bhith ann an Leòdhas sna Hearadh anns an linn-sa.

[Calum MacCoinnich] Nuair a thàinig Kenny MacLeòid, Kenny ‘Tank’ MacLeòid nuair a thàinig esan na mhanaidsear fhuair esan air adhart math dha-rìribh an uair sin. Chun an sin bha sinn dèanamh a’ chùis ‘s dòcha cupan a h-uile dha no thrì bhliadhnaichean. Ann an naoi bliadhna bho 2001 gu 2010 rinn e a’ chùis air 33 cupan, cha tèid sin fhaighinn a chaoidh tuilleadh.

[Aonghas Dòmhnallach – Neach-aithris] Tha iad gu mòr an urra ri taic agus obair saor-thoileach na coimhearsnachd agus tha iad an dòchas gun lean sin.

[Calum MacCoinnich] Cha chreid mi gu bheil mòran a’ tuigsinn na dh’ fheumas tu de dh’airgead ann am bliadhna airson sgioba a ruith. Bidh sinn a’ togail airgead ann an grunn dhòighean diofraichte agus tha mi’n dòchas gun tig tòrr a-mach agus gun ceannaich iad an leabhar agus sinn glè mhath às an sin.

[Aonghas Dòmhnallach – Neach-aithris] Leigheas math do dheuchainnean an taghaidh, còig uairean feasgar Disathairne an ionad coimhearsnachd Liùrboist. Aonghas Dòmhnallach, BBC An air na Lochan.

80 years of Lochs Football club

[Calum MacDonald - Presenter] A book will be published on Saturday, celebrating 80 years of the Lochs football team. They had many famous players with them in those years and the team itself prospered in the last ten years, as Angus MacDonald will tell us.

[Angus Macdonald - Reporter] The Lochs team began like many other and they were established in one town of the area, but it wasn’t long before they expanded.

[Duncan N MacLeod] We have pictures in the book, here, which show the Lochs Teams, in the Forties, and there are people from Kinloch. It was at this time when people began to come in from South Lochs together with North Lochs, but it was in Leurbost where they began in 1934.

[Angus MacDonald - Reporter]And down through the years, they had good players and people who reached a high level in the game.

[Duncan N MacLeod] There was one man in particular, Ian Montgomery from Airidh a' Bhruaich and Balallan, and he signed a contract from Chelsea in 1950 and we have an account of him in the magazine. Also, I believe - the best player we ever had in the Lochs team was Kenny MacSween from Leurbost. He signed on in the S form, he was a schoolboy at the time, I think, at Ibrox, and he became homesick and went home. He was at that time playing for Morton and unfortunately, he died when he was very young.

[Angus MacDonald - Reporter] And the Lochs team are fortunate in that they have a wealth of information and pictures which adds greatly to the richness of this book.

[Duncan N MacLeod] Another thing we have that I would wish to mention is our large quantity of pictures. We have hundreds if not thousands. This is thanks to one person especially, that is Seonaidh ‘Rusty’ MacDonald from Leurbost. I think he’s devoted 30 years now to taking pictures. Also, we have been gathering research about the team of 1934.

[Angus MacDonald - Reporter] But this isn’t just the team of yesterday as this Lochs Team is the strongest in Lewis and Harris in this century.

[Calum MacKenzie] When Kenny MacLeod came, Kenny ‘Tank’ MacLeod, when he became manager, he got on very well indeed at the time. Up to this point, we were winning cups maybe every two or three years. In 9 years from maybe 2001 until 2010 we won 33 cups, we won’t get that again.

[Angus MacDonald - Reporter] They are very dependent on support and voluntary work from the community and they hope that this will continue.

[Calum MacKenzie] I don’t think that many people understand how much money is needed to run a team for a year. We get money in a number of different ways and I hope that lots of people will come out and that they will buy the book and that we will do very well from this.

[Angus MacDonald - Reporter] A good respite from the election, 5 o clock on Saturday afternoon in the Leurbost community centre. Aonghas Dòmhnallach, BBC An Là air na Lochan.
