Cò shoirbhich aig na Duaisean Gàidhlig am-bliadhna?

[Iain MacIllEathain – Preseantair] Bha oidhche mhòr ann an Glaschu a-raoir agus cuirm Duaisean na Gàidhlig ga dol ann an taigh-òsta an Radisson Blu. Seo an dàrna bliadhna dhe na duaisean, a tha a’ comharrachadh dealasachd agus deagh rùn dhan Ghàidhlig thar deich roinnean fa-leth. Tha boillsgeadh camara anns an aithris aig Kerr Gibb.

[Kerr Gibb – Neach-aithris] Bho chuirm gleansach, thug measgachadh de bhuidhnean duaisean dhachaigh, nam measg, Deasbad BT Alba airson tachartas na bliadhna, agus Ceòlas a thog duais Eaconamach na Gàidhlig.

[Maria NicAonghais] Anns a’ chiad dol a-mach, feumaidh mi taing mhòr a thoirt do choimhearsnachd Uibhist a Deas. Cha b’ urrainn do Cheòlas a bhith leth cho soirbheachail, nam bheachd-sa, às aonais na taic a tha sinn a’ faighinn bhon choimhearsnachd fhèin.

[Kerr Gibb – Neach-aithris] Ach cha b’ e buidhnean a-mhàin a shoirbhich. Bhuannaich Coinneach Mac a’ Ghobhainn, a tha ag obair ann an roinn naidheachdan BBC Radio nan Gàidheal, Tosgaire Òg na Bliadhna. Agus, chaidh an duais eadar-nàiseanta gu Mìcheal Bauer.

[Mìcheal Bauer] Tha mi, tha mi glè thoilichte, gun d’ fhuair mi an duais seo a-nochd. Mar a thuirt mi, mar a thuirt mi roimhe, chan eil mi ag obair ann an sgioba agus chan eil mi ag obair ann am buidheann, agus uaireannan, tha e doirbh a ràdh, an luach a tha anns na rudan a tha mi a’ cruthachadh do dhaoine, agus tha e math fhaicinn gu bheil e gu feum do dhaoine.

[Kerr Gibb – Neach-aithris] B’ e am pàipear-naidheachd an Daily Record a stèidhich agus a chur air dòigh na duaisean.

‘S ann dhaibhsan a tha e agus tha e uabhasach fhèin inntinneach dhuinn a bhith a’ faicinn gu robh timcheall air cheud is seachdad duine is buidhnean air am moladh airson duaisean. Tha sin ag innse gu bheil tòrr a’ tachairt a-muigh an sin.

[Kerr Gibb – Neach-aithris] A’ togail na duais Choimhearsnachd, Dualchais is Turasachd, bha Gairm nan Gàidheal. Pròiseact leis a’ bhuidhinn Pròiseact nan Ealan, a’ comharrachadh na seirbheis, nach bu bheag, a rinn daoine bho na h-Eileanan Siar anns a’ Chogadh Mhòr.

[Erica Mhoireasdain – Pròiseact nan Ealan] Nuair a tha thu ag obair le change cuspair cho cudromach ri seo, tha thu ag iarraidh a bhith ga lìbhrigeadh ann an dòigh a tha ceart, agus le spèis. Agus a-nochd, às dèidh a bhith a’ buannachadh na duais a tha seo, tha e a’ sealltainn dhuinn, ‘s dòcha gun do rinn, gun d’ fhuair sinn ceart e.

[Kerr Gibb – Neach-aithris] Mu dheireadh, chaidh Sàr Dhuais na Gàidhlig gu Ceitidh Ann NicDhòmhnaill, no Nan, mar as fheàrr a dh’aithnichear i.

[Ceitidh Ann NicDhòmhnaill] Tapadh leibh! Mo chreach! ‘S e th’ annamsa ach caileach às an Rubha!

[Kerr Gibb – Neach-aithris] Tha Nan air a bhith dealasach fad còrr is còig-bliadhna thar fhichead a’ ruith cròileagan gu saor-thoileach ann an Glaschu. Agus cha robh aon neach a-staigh a-raoir nach canadh gu bheil i gu tur airidh air an duais. Kerr Gibb, BBC An Là, Glaschu.

Who will win at the Gaelic awards this year

[John MacLean – Presenter] There was a big night in Glasgow last night with the Gaelic Awards taking place in the Radisson Blu hotel. This is the second year of the awards, marking the commitment and good will towards the Gaelic language over ten different categories. There are flashing images in Kerr Gibb’s report.

[Kerr Gibb – Reporter] A mixture of organisations took awards home from this glitzy event, among them, Deasbad BT Alba who won Event of the Year, and Ceòlas won the Gaelic Economy award.

[Maria MacInnes] Firstly, I need to give a big thank you to the South Uist community. Ceòlas couldn’t be as successful, in my opinion, without the help we get from the community itself.

[Kerr Gibb – Reporter] But it wasn’t just organisations who were successful. Kenneth Smith, who works in the news department at BBC Radio nan Gàidheal won the Young Gaelic Ambassador of the Year award. And, the International Award went to Michael Bauer.

[Michael Bauer] I am, I am happy, that I got this award tonight. As I said, as I said before, I don’t work in a team and I don’t work for an organisation, and at times, it’s difficult to say, how worthwhile the things I am creating for people are, and, it’s good to see that they are useful.

[Kerr Gibb – Reporter] It was the newspaper, the Daily Record, that founded and organised the awards.

[Torquil Crichton – Daily Record] Well, the Daily Record is a Scottish newspaper, a newspaper for Scotland, and therefore, we want to be supportive of every part of Scottish culture, and the Gaels and the Gaelic language are part of that.

[Kerr Gibb – Reporter] Bòrd na Gàidhlig, who support the event, also see its value.

[John Angus MacKay – Bòrd na Gàidhlig] This is a marvellous event for those Gaels who do a lot of work on behalf of the Gaelic language. It’s for them, and it’s very encouraging for us to see that around two hundred and seventy people and organisations were nominated for awards. That tells us that there is a lot happening out there.

[Kerr Gibb – Reporter] Gairm nan Gàidheal won the Community, Heritage and Tourism Award, a project by Pròiseact nan Ealan, marking the substantial service given by the people of the Western Isles during the Great War.

[Erica Morrison – Pròiseact nan Ealan] When you’re working with such important subject matter, you want to deliver it in the right way, with respect. And tonight, after winning this award, it shows us that, maybe we did, that we got it right.

[Kerr Gibb – Reporter] Lastly, the Best Contribution Award went to Katie Ann MacDonald, or Nan, as she’s better known.

[Katie Ann MacDonald] Thank you! My goodness! I’m just an old woman from Point!

[Kerr Gibb – Reporter] Nan has been committed to the Gaelic language for more than twenty-fiver years, voluntarily running a playgroup in Glasgow. And everyone last night agreed how much she deserved the award. Kerr Gibb, BBC An Là, Glasgow.
