Tha Mod Club air clàr a chur air bhog

[Iain MacAonghais – Preseantair] Uill, chan eil ach beagan sheachdainean on a thàinig Mòd Phaislig gu crìoch, ach mar-thàth, tha cuid a’ deasachadh airson na h-ath bhliadhna an seo ann an Inbhir Nis. Ann am Muile, tha buidheann sònraichte air a bhith a’ brosnachadh sgoilearan gus pàirt a ghabail ann am Mòdan airson iomadh bliadhna, Comann Gàidhealach Mhuile no Mòd Club. A-nise, tha iad air clàr a chur air bhog ‘s am ballrachd aca a’ dol am meud. Chaidh Andreas Wolff dhan chuirm aca.

[Andreas Wolff - Neach-aithris] Ann am Muile, tha buidheann ann a bhios a’ brosnachadh na cloinne gu seinn Gàidhlig.

[Andreas Wolff - Neach-aithris] Tha iad aithnichte mar Chomann Ghàidhealach Mhuile no am Mòd Club.

[Catriona NicIlleathain] Gun àite sòisealta a bhith a’ bruidhinn na Gàidhlig. Cha bhiodh a’ Ghàidhlig aig a’ chloinn san latha an-diugh agus na làithean san robh mise san bun-sgoil cho math ‘s a tha e a-nis.

[Andreas Wolff - Neach-aithris] Tha Comann Gàidhealach Mhuile air a bhith a’ dol airson deich bliadhna a-nise agus tha iad a’ brosnachadhna h-òigridh ann a bhith a’ gabhail pàirt ann am Mòdan. Agus tha iad an-diugh a’ cur air bhog a’ chiad CD aca.

[Andreas Wolff - Neach-aithris] Bidh an fheadhainn as òige a’ cur orra geansaidhean purpaidh fhad ‘s a tha an fheadhainn as sine le geansaichean pinc. ‘S e ‘Pinc is Purpaidh’ an t-ainm a th’ air a’ chlàr.

[Shannon] Tha e mar theaghlach mhòr agus tha cothroman againne a bhith a’ dol gu àiteachan ùra fad na h-ùine. Chaidh sinn gu Mòd Bharraigh mìos air ais agus chòrd sin rium gu mòr. Tha e math an cothrom fhaighinn measgachadh Gàidhlig agus ceòl le mo charaidhean.

[Andreas Wolff - Neach-aithris] Thug na sgoilearan taing do Rhiona Nic’illeBhàin a bhios a’ ruith a’ Chomainn. Tha na tidsearan a’ faicinn cho feumail ‘s a tha an obair aice.

[Deirdre Chase] Tha mi a’ smaointinn gu bheil e gu math cuideachail dhan chloinn agus tha e a’ còrdadh riutha cuideachd. Agus tha e gu math feumail gu bheil cothrom anns an sgoil aca Gàidhlig a chleachdadh.

[Kirsten NicDhòmhnaill] Uill, tha Mòd Club a’ còrdadh ris na sgoilearan gu mòr is tha e a’ togail na h-ùidh aca sa Ghàidhlig is tha e a’ toirt orra a bhith nas misneachail sa chlas ann a bhith a’ chleachdadh na Gàidhlig.

[Andreas Wolff - Neach-aithris] Bha an còmhlan Tiristeach, Trail West a’ cluich aig a’ chuirm. Is coltach gu bheil an comann a’ brosnachadh na cloinne gus an cuid Gàidhlig a thoirt gu ìre nas àirde

[Catriona NicIlleathain] Bha mi a’ bruidhinn Gàidhlig ri daoine eadar-dhealaichte ann an suidheachadh sòisealta, mar na Mòdan Ionadail agus gach seachdain aig Mòd Club no aig deireadh-sheachdain nuair a bha sinn a’ seinn còmhla ri chèile. Agus an uair sin, chaidh mi gun Oilthigh aig an t-Sabhal Mhòr airson dèanamh Gàidhlig. Agus gun a’ Mhòd Club, cha bhi sin a’ tachairt airson iomadh duine.

[Andreas Wolff - Neach-aithris] Fhuair Comann Ghàidhealach Mhuile taic-airgid bho Mhaoin-Ealain a’ BhBC gus an CD seo a dhèanamh. Andreas Wolff, BBC An Tobair Mhoire.

Mod Club have released a record

[Iain MacInnes –Presenter] Well, only a few weeks have passed since the Paisley Mod has come to an end, but already many are preparing for the next year in Inverness. In Mull, there is an unique group who has been inspiring pupils to take part in Mods for many years, the Mull Highland Society, or Mod Club. Now, they have published a CD and their membership has increased. Andreas Wolff went to their concert.

[Andreas Wolff - Reporter] In Mull, there is a group who inspires children to sing in Gaelic.

[Andreas Wolff - Reporter]They are known as the Mull Highland Society, or the Mod Club.

[Catriona MacLean] Without a social area to speak Gaelic, the children would not have Gaelic today and in the days when I was young, as good as it is today.

[Andreas Wolff - Reporter] The Mull Highland Society have been going for ten years now and they have been inspiring the young to take part in the Mods. And today, they are publishing their first CD.

[Andreas Wolff - Reporter] The youngest ones wear purple jumpers and the older ones wear pink jumpers. The record is called “Pink and Purple”.

[Shannon] It is like a big family and we have opportunities to go to new areas all the time. We went to the Barra Mod a month ago and I really enjoyed it. It is good to get the opportunity to mix and Gaelic and music with my friends.

[Andreas Wolff - Reporter] The pupils gave thanks to Rhiona Whyte who runs the Society. The teachers see how useful her work is.

[Deirdre Chase] I think it is very helpful to the youth and they enjoy it too. And it is useful to have that opportunity in the school to use Gaelic.

[Kirsten MacDonald] Well, Mod Club is enjoyed by the pupils greatly and it raises their interest in Gaelic and it encourages them to be more confident in the class to use Gaelic.

[Andreas Wolff - Reporter] The Tiree group, Trail West played at the concert. It would appear that the society inspire the children to take their Gaelic to an higher level.

[Catriona MacLean] I was speaking Gaelic to different people in a social situation, like the local Mods and every week at Mod Club or at the weekend when we were singing together. And then, I went to university at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig to do Gaelic. And without Mod Club, that would not happen for many people.

[Andreas Wolff - Reporter] The Mull Highland Society received funding from the Gaelic Arts Fund to do this CD. Andreas Wolff, BBC An Là, Tobermory.
