Co-chomhairleachaidh mu ghearraidhean anns an t-seirbheis bhus ann an Leòdhas

[Angela NicIlleathain - Preseantair] Tha ùine a bharrachd ga thoirt do mhuinntir an Rubha agus Loch a Tuath ann an Leòdhas a dhol an-sàs ann an co-chomhairleachaidh mu ghearraidhean anns an t-seirbheis bhus aca. Bha còir aig a’ cho-chomhairleachaidh dùnadh aig meadhan na h-ath mhìos ach cha robh comhairle coimhearsnachd an Rubha toilichte mun an sin idir. Seo Dòmhnall MacLaomainn.

[Dòmhnall MacLaomainn – Neach-aithris] Tha Comhairle nan Eilean Siar a’ cosg còig puing a cheithir millean not gach bliadhna son taic a thoirt do sheirbheisean bus air feadh nan Eileanan an Iar agus iad fhèin a’ ruith nan seirbheisean eadar sgìrean an Rubha agus sgìre Loch a Tuath gu Steòrnabhagh. Ach le na seirbheisean a’ dol a-mach gu tairgse an ath-bhliadhna, tha an Comhairle airson gearradh na seirbheis.

[Tormod MacLeòid] Chanainn-sa gu bheil suas gun seo fhèin gu bheil Rolls-Royce service againne ga thoirt seachad, ach chan urrainn dhuinn cumail a’ caitheamh airgead air sin nuair a tha seirbheisean eile a’ fulang cuideachd.

[Dòmhnall MacLaomainn – Neach-aithris] Mar a chì sibh air mo chùlaibh, chan eil trioblaid sam bith aig a’ chomhairle le busaichean. Tha e a’ fàgail aig an àm-sa mu chairteal an-dèidh còig, tha iad uile làn. ‘S e an trioblaid a th’ aca le busaichean a’ fàgail tron latha. Glè thric, tha iad letheach falamh.

[Dòmhnall MacLaomainn – Neach-aithris] Tha planaichean na comhairle dìreach a’ dol a-mach gu co-chomhairleachaidh agus ‘s an sin far a bheil a’ chonnspaid. A rèir comhairle coimhearsnachd an Rubha, tha a’ chomhairle a’ cur a-mach a’ cho-chomhairleachaidh aig àm mì-iomchaidh.

[Comhairliche Tormod MacLeòid] Feumar a’ toirt dhan an Rubha. Feumaidh an comhairle an t-sluagh a thoirt leotha. Feumaidh iad sin a thuigsinn. Agus chan eil càil a mhath dhaibh feuchainn ri rudan mar seo a chur tarsainn air an t-shluagh meadhan an t-samhraidh nuair a tha a’ chuid mhòr dhen t-sluagh air na làithean-saor’. Carson nach fhaod sinn fuireach? Carson a tha an all-fired hurry a tha seo?

[Dòmhnall MacLaomainn – Neach-aithris] Bha coir aig a’ cho-chomhairleachaidh dùnadh meadhan na h-ath mhìos, dìreach nuair a tha na sgoiltean a’ dol air ais a-steach. Ach thàinig naidheachd nas fheàrr a-steach an-diugh.

[Tormod MacLeòid] Tha aon phìos mhath de naidheachd a fhuair sinn bhuapa an-diugh. Tha sinn a’ deasbaid riutha. ‘S e sin g’ eil sinn a’ dol a dh’fhaighinn colla-deug a bharrachd airson consultation agus bidh an t-àm a tha sin suas gu toiseach an t-Sultain agus bidh sin fosgailte dha duine sam bith a thighinn air adhart.

[Dòmhnall MacLaomainn – Neach-aithris] Bheir sinn cothrom don chomhairle coimhearsnachd anns an Rubha coinneachadh leis a’ chomhairle airson bruidhinn mu dheidhinn nan gearraidhean a tha ri thighinn ris na seirbheisean. Ach, tha cuid den bheachd g’ eil an comhairle feuchainn ri putadh nan gearraidhean troimhe nuair nach eil daoine a’ coimhead. Chan eil fhios a bheil sheachdain a bharrachd airson a’ co-chomhairleachaidh a’ dol a dh’atharrachadh a’ bheachd sin. Dòmhnall MacLaomainn, BBC An Là, Steòrnabhagh.

Sucbcommittee about concerns about the bus service in Lewis

[Angela MacLean - Presenter] More time is being given to the people of Point and North Lochs in Lewis to take part in a consultation about the cuts in their bus services. The consultation should have closed in the middle of next month, but the people of Point were not happy with this. Here’s Donald Lamont.

[Donald Lamont – Reporter] Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (Western Isles Council) spend four million pounds every year on subsidies for bus services all over the Western Isles and they run the services themselves between Point and North Lochs to Stornoway. But as the services are going out to tender next year, the Council are want to cut this service.

[Norman MacLeod] I would say that up to now we have given a Rolls-Royce service, but we can’t keep spending money on that when other services are suffering too.

[Donald Lamont – Reporter] As you will see behind me, the council have no trouble with buses. They leave at this time, about quarter past five and they are all full. The trouble they have is with the buses leaving through the day. Very often, they are half empty.

[Donald Lamont – Reporter] The council’s plans have just gone out to consultation and that is where the debate lies. According to the Point Community Council, the council have put the consultation at a very unsuitable time.

[Cllr Norman MacLeod] It has to be given to Point. The Council have to take the people with them. They have to understand that. And it does them no good trying to put things like this across to the people in the middle of summer when most of the people are on their summer holidays. Why can we not wait? Why is there this all-fired hurry?

[Donald Lamont – Reporter] The consultation should have closed in the middle of next month, just as the schools were going back in. But better news came out today.

[Norman MacLeod] We have one piece of good news that we got from them today. We are arguing with them. That is that we are going to get an extra fortnight for consultation and that time will be up to the start of September agus will be open to any person who wants to come forward.

[Donald Lamont – Reporter] This will give the community council in Point the chance to meet with the council to talk about the cuts that are coming with the service. But many are of the opinion that the council are trying to push the cuts through when people are not looking. It is not known whether two weeks more for the consultation will change that view. Donald Lamont, BBC An Là, Stornoway.
