Ceum-coiseachd ùr a thogail ann an Ìle

[Angela NicIlleathain - Preseantair] Thèid ceum-coiseachd ùr a thogail eadar na trì taighean-staile eader Port Ilein agus an Àrd Bheag ann an Ìle. Chan eil rathad eadar na taighean-staile ach mu thrì mìle a dh’fhaid. Ach tha uimhir a’ coiseachd air ‘s gu bheil e air fàs cunnartach. Cosgaidh am pròiseact còrr air cheud mìle not le suimean a’ tighinn bho Sustrans, na taighean-staile agus bhon ùghdarras ionadail. Tha tuilleadh aig Seonaidh MacCoinnich.

[Seonaidh MacCoinnich – Neach-aithris] Seo, mar a chanas iad, an Rathad Uisge-beatha a’ ruith a-mach à Port Ilein ann an Ìle. Chan eil e ach trì mìle a dh’ fhaid, ach tha trì taighean-staile anns na trì mìle sin. Agus tha iomadh luchd-turais a’ coiseachd no a’ toirt a’ bhaidhsagal sìos nan trì mìle airson toirt a-steach na trì taighean-staile ann an aon là.

[Seonaidh MacCoinnich – Neach-aithris] Ach a-nis, aig cosgais beagan a bharrachd air cheud mìle not, tha iad a’ dol a chur ceum no slighe a-steach airson daoine a bhith a’ coiseachd agus a’ cleachdadh bhaidhsagalan.

[Robin Currie] ‘S tha mòran dhaoine a’ coiseachd agus a’ toirt bicycles suas an sin, agus tha an rathad fhèin gu math cunnartach. Agus chuir Argyll is Bhòid a-staigh airgead air a shon airson na cycle-paths seo a dhèanamh. Tha sinn gu math toilichte gun d’ huair sinn pàirt den airgead airson siùdach air an seo.

[Seonaidh MacCoinnich – Neach-aithris] Tha Sustrans a’ cur ceud mìle not a-steach don phròiseact agus na taighean-staile a’ cur trì fichead mìle not ann cuideachd. Tha feum aig Comhairle Earra-Ghàidheal is Bhòid a-nis air leth-cheud mìle not eile a lorg, ach cuin an dùil a bhios e deiseil?

[Robin Currie] Tha mi an dòchas gum bi sinn a’ siùdach air a’ bhliadhna seo agus gum bi sin rèidh suas gu Lag a' Mhuilinn toiseach an ath bhliadhna agus ma gheibh sin airgead còmhla gum bi sinn a’ crìochnachadh a rèir suas gus an Àrd Bheag an ath bhliadhna cuideachd, is bidh e, tha mi an dòchas, deiseil airson samhradh 2014.

[Seonaidh MacCoinnich – Neach-aithris] Uill, sin agad e! Tha feum agam a-nis coiseachd nan trì mìle air ais a Port Ilein. Seonaidh MacCoinnich. BBC An Là. Ann an Ìle.

A new footpath opens in Islay

[Angela MacLean - Presenter] A new footpath is to be built between the three distilleries between Port Ellen and Ard Beg in Islay. The road between the distilleries is only three miles long. But a number walk on it and it is getting dangerous. The project will cost between £200,000 with sums coming from Sustrans, the distilleries and from the local trust. Seonaidh MacKenzie has more.

[Seonaidh MacKenzie – Reporter] Here, as they say, is Whisky Road out of Port Ellen in Islay. It is only three miles long, but there are three distilleries in those three miles. And many tourists walk, or take bicycles down the three miles to take in the three distilleries in one day.

[Seonaidh MacKenzie – Reporter] But at a cost of £200,000, they are going to put a path, or way, for people to walk on, or to use bicycles.

[Robin Currie] And many people are walking or taking bicycles up there and the road itself is getting very dangerous. Argyll and Bute have given money to make cycle-paths. We are really happy that we got part of the money to start on this.

[Seonaidh MacKenzie – Reporter] Sustrans have given £100, 000 in for the project and the distilleries and the distilleries have put £60,000 in too. Argyll and Bute Council now have to find another £50,000, but when do they expect it to be ready?

[Robin Currie] I hope that we can start this year and we will be straight up to Lagavulain at the start of next year and if we get the money together that we will be finished up to Ard Beg next year too and, it will be, I think, ready for summer 2014.

[Seonaidh MacKenzie – Reporter] Well, that’s it! I have to now walk the tree miles back to Port Ellen. Seonaidh MacKenzie, BBC An Là. In Islay.
