Plana baile ùr a thogail ann am Pàirce Nàiseanta a’ Mhonaidh Ruaidh

Angela NicIlleathain - Preseantair] Chaidh plana connspaideach baile ùr a thogail ann am Pàirce Nàiseanta a’ Mhonaidh Ruaidh air beulaibh Cuairt an t-Seisein. Tha buidhnean glèidhteachais feargach gu bheilear airson mìle gu leth taigh a thogail ann an Camus Mòr, faisg air an Aghaidh Mhòr. Tha dragh orra mun bhuaidh a bhios aig an àit’ ùr air fiadh-bheatha na sgìre. Mhìnich Dòmhnall MacLaomainn barrachd mun a' phlana.

[Dòmhnall MacLaomainn – Neach-aithris] Uill, tha luchd-planaidh agus comhairlean-coimhearsnachd air a bhith bruidhinn mu dheidhinn leasachadh an àite seo – An Camas Mòr, faisg air An Aghaidh Mhòr son còrr air fichead bliadhna. Nise, bha sgrùdadh planaidh ionadail ann ann an naoi-deug ceud naochad ‘s a ceithir agus a-rithist ann an naoi-deug ceud naochad ‘s a seachd, ach bhon uair sin, ‘s e Comhairle na Gàidhealtachd, còmhla ri Iain Grannd, Oighreachd Rothiemuchas a th’ air a bhith strì airson an leasachaidh a tha seo.

[Dòmhnall MacLaomainn – Neach-aithris] Nise, ann an mhìle ‘s a deich, as dèidh mòran obrach airson sàsachadh nam buidhnean glèidhteachais, fhuair iad cead dealbhaidh agus ann an mhìle ‘s a h-aon-deug ghabh companaidh Springfield, thairis a’ phròiseact agus tha iadsan airson leantainn orra mìle gu leth dachaigh a thogail anns an àite seo.

[Angela NicIlleathain - Preseantair] tha buidhnean glèidhteachais nam biastagan beaga, no Buglife ag ràdh mun chùis?

[Dòmhnall MacLaomainn – Neach-aithris] Uill, tha buidhnean glèidhteachais, leithid Wilderness Scotland agus a’ Phàirc Nàiseanta fhèin gu math taiceil dha na planaichean seo. Ach, tha grunn bhuidhnean glèidhteachais nan aghaidh.

[Dòmhnall MacLaomainn – Neach-aithris] An-uiridh anns an t-Sultain, thàinig trì dhe na buidhnean sin còmhla airson tagradh laghail a thoirt an aghaidh nam planaichean. Nis, cha deach leotha agus bha dùil againne an uair sin gur e sin deireadh na cùise. Ach, tha buidhnean glèidhteachais as ùr a’ nochdadh, buidhnean glèidhteachais airson nam biastagan beaga, no Buglife, agus tha iadsan air spionnadh as ùr a thoirt dhan iomairt seo.

[Dòmhnall MacLaomainn – Neach-aithris] Nise, tha iadsan ag ràdh gu bheil na planaichean seo a’ dol a dhèanamh cron air biastagan beaga a th’ ann an cunnart a dhol a-mach à bith co-dhiù, leithid seilleanan blueberry agus seangan le ceann-cumhainge. Cuideachd, beathaichean fiadhaich eile mar a’ Chait fhaidhaich agus feòragan ruadh.

[Dòmhnall MacLaomainn – Neach-aithris] Tha iad ag ràdh gu bheil na planaichean a’ dol an aghaidh riaghailtean Eòrpach a thaobh àrainneachd glèidhteachais agus nach deach rannsachadh gu leòr a dhèanamh air a’ chron a dh’ fhaodadh na planaichean a dhèanamh air an àrainneachd fhèin. Tha iad a’ toirt a’ chùis a tha seo gu cùirt an t-Seisein ann an Dùn Èideann an-diugh còmhla ri na buidhnean glèidhteachais eile a dh’ainmich mi na bu thràithe. Mairidh a’ chùis-lagh seo agus bidh na buidhnean glèidhteachais an dòchas gun urrainn dhaibh stad a chur air na planaichean a tha seo. Nise, bidh na daoine a tha airson nam planaichean an dòchas gun urrainn dhaibh tòiseachadh ceart a chur air pròiseact a thàinig gu bàrr an tòiseach ann an naoi ceud deug ceithir fichead ‘s a naoi.

Plan to build a new town in the Cairngorms National Park

[Angela MacLean - Presenter] A controversial plan for a new town to be built in the Cairngorms National Park was brought before the Court of Session. An environmental group are furious that 1,500 houses are to be built in Camas Mòr, near Aviemore. They are concerned about the effect that the new place will have on the wildlife of the area. Dòmhnall Lamont will explain more.

[Donald Lamont – Reporter] Well, planners and community councils have been discussing the development of this area, Camas Mòr, near Aviemore for more than twenty years. Now, there was local planning research done in 1997, but since then Highland Council with John Grand have been fighting for this development.

[Donald Lamont – Reporter] Now, in 2010 after lots of work to satisfy the environmental groups, they got planning permission and in 2011, the company, Springfield, came on to the project and they want to press on building 1,500 houses here.

[Angela MacLean - Presenter] What are the insect environmentalist group, or Buglife, saying about the matter?

[Donald Lamont – Reporter] Well, the environmentalist group, such as Wilderness Scotland and the National Park themselves are very supportive of these plans. But, many environmentalist groups are against them.

[Donald Lamont – Reporter] Last September, three of those groups came together to lodge a legal appeal against the plans. Now, they didn’t continue and we expected that was the end of the matter. But, a new environmentalist group has arisen, an environmental group for insects, or Buglife, and they want to invigorate this campaign.

[Donald Lamont – Reporter] Now, they say that these plans are going to harm insects that are in danger of extinction anyway like the blaeberry bee and the narrow-headed ant. Also, there are other wildlife like the wild cats and red squirrels.

[Donald Lamont – Reporter] They say that the plans are going against the European laws on environmental conservation and there has not been enough research on the harm that the plans could do on the environment itself. They are raking the matter to Court of session in Edinburgh today with the conservation groups hoping that they can stop these plans. Now, the people who are for the plans hope that they can make a proper start on the project that started in 1989.
