Là litreachais na Gàidhlig

[Eilidh NicLeòid – Preseantair] Agus air iomall na fèis, bha prìomhachas ga thoirt an-diugh do litreachas. Brosnachadh do sgrìobhadairean ùra agus aithne dhan fheadhainn a th’ air peann a chur ri pàipear mu thràth. Tha an aithris seo aig Catrìona NicFhionghain.

[Catrìona NicFhionghain – Neach-aithris] Tha an Diciadain den Mhòd a-nis aithnichte mar litreachais na Gàidhlig, sònraichte gu sgrìobhadairean a chomharrachadh. Agus an an-diugh, bha farpaisich bho gach aois soirbheachail. Tha an fharpais seo air a ruith leis a’ Chomann Ghàidhealach agus air a maoineachadh le tòrr bhuidhnean ann an saoghal na Gàidhlig.

[Rosemary Ward – Comhairle nan Leabhraichean ] Tha mi a’ smaointinn gu bheil farpaisean mar a tha sinn a’ faicinn an seo an-diugh aig Litreachais a’ Mhòid Nàiseanta Rìoghail a’ toirt spionnadh do dhaoine cuideachd. Chanainn-sa ri duine sam bith aig a bheil deagh sgeulachd ri innse, faighinn ann an touch rinn, peann a chur ri pàipear agus eisimpleirean dhen cuid sgrìobhaidh a chur air adhart thugainn.

[Catrìona NicFhionghain – Neach-aithris] ‘S ann à Tìoradh a tha Eilidh NicPhaidein, aig ochd bliadhna deug a dh’ aois, choisinn i duais airson an neach a tha soirbhachadh gu mòr ann an litreachas. Fhuair i duais eile airson sgeulachd ghoirid a sgrìobh i mu na sìthichean agus iad a’ cluich a’ bhogsa seach a’ phìob.

[Eilidh NicPhaidein – sgrìobhadair] So sgrìobh mi mu dheidhinn nan sìthichean ‘s balach òg ‘s cha robh e comasach. ‘S e an aon balach san teaghlach ‘s cha robh e comasach bogsa a chluich. Bha na pàrantan gu math comasach, ‘s an teaghlach air fad ‘s aon chaidh e gu cnoc nan sìthichean agus choinnich e ri sìthiche beag agus bha i a’ mèarrsadh tha mi a’ creidsinn. Agus fhuair e comas air a’ bhogsa dhraoidheil.

[Catrìona NicFhionghain – Neach-aithris] Bha duaisean eile ri fhaotainn cuideachd. Chaidh Ruiseart Mac a’ Ghobhainn ainmeachadh mar neach-ionnsachaidh na bliadhna. ‘S ann an Gallaibh a tha Ruiseart agus ‘s ann an sin a thòisich e air Gàidhlig ionnsachadh dìreach bhliadhna air ais.

[Ruiseart Mac a’ Ghobhainn – Oileanach] Thòisich mi Gàidhlig ionnsachadh bhliadhna air ais air am fòn bhon t-Sabhal Mhòr agus thòisich mi air sgàth ‘s gun robh ùidh agam ann an cànan san fharsaingeachd. Ach an uair sin, bha mi airson cànan eile ionnsachadh is chunnaic mi Gàidhlig mun cuairt agus bha am Mòd shuas ann an Gallaibh aig an àm sin cuideachd.

[Catrìona NicFhionghain – Neach-aithris] An-diugh fhèin thuirt Comann nan Leabhraichean gun robh iad a-nis airson an obair aig na sgrìobhadairean a ghabh pàirt anns an fharpais a chur ann an clò airson a’ chiad uair a-riamh. Catrìona NicFhionghain. BBC An ann an Dùn Omhain.

The Gaelic Literature day

[Eilidh MacLeod – Presenter] And at the fringe of the festival, priority was given to literature. Inspiration to new writers and recognition to those who have put pen to paper already. Catriona MacKinnon has the report

[Catriona MacKinnon – Reporter] Wednesday at the Mod is now known as the day of Gaelic literature, a special day to celebrate writers. An today, competitors of every age were successful. This competition is run by the Gaelic Books Council and is funded by many groups in the world of Gaelic

[Rosemary Ward – Gaelic Books Council]This think competitions like we see here today at the Royal National Mod’s day of literature give people a push too. I would say to any one who has a good story to tell, to get on touch, put pen to paper and send in examples of your work to us.

[Catriona MacKinnon – Reporter] Eilidh MacFadden is from Tiree and at eighteen years of age, she won the prize for the person who has most succeeded in literature. She won another prize for a short story she wrote about the fairies and how they play the accordion instead of the pipes.

[Eilidh MacFadden – Writer] So, I worte a story about the fairies and a young boy and he was not competen. He was the only boy in the family and they was not competent at playing the accordion. His parents were competetent, and all the family. One day ihe went to the hill of the fairies and he met with a wee fairy and she was marching, I believe. And he got the skill of the magical accordion.

[Catriona MacKinnon – Reporter] Other prizes were available too. Richard Smith was named as the Learner of the year. Richard is from Galloway and he only started learning Gaelic two years ago

[Richard Smith – Student] I started learning Gaelic two years’ ago on the phone from Sabhal Mòr (Ostaig) and I started as I had an interest in language in general. But then I wanted to learn another language and I saw that Gaelic was around and the Mod was up in Galloway at that time too.

[Catriona MacKinnon – Reporter] Today, the Gaelic books Council said that they were now going to start publishing the work of the competitors who took part for the very first time. Catriona MacKinnon. BBC An Là in Dunoon.
